I've had Ian Happ, Daz Cameron, and Brendan Rogers right at the top of my want list with Carson Fulmer.

my top player I had is Michael Matuella with Rogers #2 and Ian Happ #3. Kirby #4.

now I don't know but I may look at prospects who can move fast in the system and hitter

how has power. not overwhelming power. however where the sox is drafting #8, I may have

to go HS.

the thing I started to notice on the last 2 mock draft. is the HS'ers are starting to make more

of a name for themselves. the baseball professional mention early that this draft is situated for

hs pitchers. yeah it is starting to look like it.

but back to what I was saying. why not hs'er Trenton Clark? how bout Alex Bregman ss LSU?

I like DJ Stewart as a fast moving LH OF'er with plus power and really good bat to ball skills. Good athlete and the best college bat in the draft.

Happ is interesting as well, though he has not player the competition that Stewart has.

If the draft board has the big four arms off the board, I want a college bat over one of the Vandy arms or Kirby.

mock draft

18. Toronto Blue Jays — Carson Fulmer, RHP Vanderbilt

After being the closer for the first year and a half of his career at Vanderbilt,

Fulmer made a smooth transition into the starting rotation as a sophomore.

Over 10 starts, he posted a 2.00 ERA, 1.18 WHIP with 57 K/28 BB over 63

innings, holding opponents to a .192 BAA. He can dial up his fastball to 98 mph,

and he adds a power slider that shows plus. His change-up is still developing and

he has good command of his stuff despite the high walk totals as he is still getting

used to the starter role. Like Brandon Finnegan last year, Fulmer will raise questions

about his size (5’-11”, 195 pounds) next year, and many will question his ability

to remain a starter. He has effort to his delivery but tones it down a bit when starting.

but remember, there is a whole season of college ball coming up. anything can happen.

also remember no one is wrong now.

Same was said about Stroman

I'm guessing Mautella is #3?

so when the sox select #8. and according to you, the top 4 arms are off. etc .....

who are the arms you are looking at now. I know many intangibles may happen

between now and draft day. just curious.

Just watched video of Kolby Allard. That's a damn good curve ball for a HS prospect and he hit 94 with the fastball in the video. I wouldn't cry if the Sox grabbed him with the 8th pick.

interesting name and interesting tools. there are 2 hs arms that intrigue me, but I am

now looking at hitters.

oh how I wish the sox had a 1a (comp pick) I really like this yrs draft esp in the hs range.

I still think there might be some steal in the lower 1rd.

Right now, Aiken, Matuella, Bickford, are the three college guys and Justin Hooper as a prep are the guys that I would be interested in at this point. I am not a fan of the smaller bodied guys like Allard and Buehler. I think any of those four have the chance to make the majors in the next two years, given their current skill level and ability to throw with velocity.

since my direction have change, now I am looking at the prospects in the 1nd that can

stay in the minors at the least amount of time. I wonder what are some of your

thought on ....

Alex Bregman ss, LSU - has always hit in the middle 300 with last yr batting 360.

decent power, leadership aplomb. top of order batter. may not steal a great numbers

of bases but is really quick.

really nice list. I am surprise you didn't mention Walker Buehler. many mock

draft like him at the 6-8 pick. for the life of I do not know why?

oh my opinion only.

For me its: Aiken, Rodgers (I would place him at 2B), Mautella, Tucker, and Cameron.

Not too many of the college guys impress me.

Question of the day?

With the current CBA set to expire on 12/1/2016, and with things pointing towards an international draft, should the Sox go all out on INTL FA's like the Yankees did this past July 2nd?

Question, does the 2015 draft is affect or is it after 2015 draft?

the reason is, if this offseason is not going to be affected, then why the hell not

sign int'l free agents that can help?

I will admit I an really lost with the cba and its rules and timeline.

This offseason is protected for lack of a better word, but I was talking more about July 2nd, 2016. If the Sox do pull off a Yankeee' like spending spree and spend $8M to $10M on INTL amateurs, whats the worst that can happen, they loose some INTL draft picks? Disagree or agree with what they did on July 2nd, but the Yankees brought in a major wave of talent. Im sure that some teams are having this discussion.

Thoughts?

I would love to do something like this. I don't think Reinsdorf would ever do it though.

I am in total agreement with you. I didn't quite write what I meant in the other post.

I edited now.

my question, it seems to me as the time to over spend may be now. depending if

some of the other prospect get posted. but if I remember right, they will be counted

as normal free agents I think.

but if the sox see young talent or talent that does count against the int'l cap, then go

for it. help build up the farm.

Baseball America's recent issue has them rated...

Rogers

Aiken

Matuella

Finkhouser

Buehler

Swanson

Hooper

Kirby

Vanderbilt has 3 of the top 13.

Same issue evaluated the 2014 draft, naming Peters the Sox best hitter; they said Cleveland had the best draft, Cubs the best hitter.

from top to bottom in the projected 1rn seems to have solid players. but I know

I am looking at mostly high school players. the 2014 seemed to have had many

finished college arms that probably won't need much time in the minors.

either way a nice deep draft for 2015.

This should be the end of that idea right here.

Yeah, not only is it flouting the rules, it is also a big gamble because you are ASSUMING that any new CBA changes wouldn't also carry penalties specifically designed to get people who try something like that.

And JR's power base probably just took a big hit with the way the selection of the new Commish went.
