I like Pickett, but he's not going in the top 10, there's no buzz around him that would suggest that To my knowledge.

P

I really like Phil Bickford at 8 but I'm curious about his height, I've seen him listed at 6'4 on his team sites but fangraphs had him at 6'0. This would cause some doubt about him being a starter or reliver.

I also like Dillion Tate, Ashe Russell and Brady Aiken

I hope the pick at 8 is Michael Matuella, who I believe will fall on draft day.

this weekend, everyone will know how Matuella is, whether he is hurt or not. they have him listed to pitch an important game.

this weekend there is going to be a good matchup, Vandy vs UCLA and 2 top prospect pitcher dueling it out. i think Vandy will win, not b/c of Fulmer pitching, but b/c they have the best talent going against UCLA and James Kaprelian.

another thing i noticed, as college ball is starting, i wonder if the top 7 that all the mocks have projected, i wonder if someone new may rise quickly or in Matuella if an injury will drop them.

hey Josh, i wonder if making a list of the top prospects plus some added sleepers list with ongoing stats is a good idea. pretty much like sox pride did last week. your thoughts????

Vanderbilt beats #4 UCLA 6-0

Fulmer 6.1 IP, 3 H, 0R/0ER, 5 BB, 9 K

112 pitches only 55 strikes. Didn't see it but effectively wild. Curve was nasty per Twitter reports from a former mlb scout

Love Swanson as far as hitting prospects. He was my early pick to win the golden spikes award.

i will be honest here, i wasn't really enamored with him for hitting as i was with Happ, Tucker, Thompson from early as last, lets say, October. but i started to look at the infield a little more this past month. i am liking him more and more. i am still not sure on his hitting, but he can still play his position.

i wouldn't be opposed but I have to write a draft report for the MLB draft subreddit on the Sox ironically.

well its been a week since Matuella had a sore arm/elbow. he pitched the first 3 shut innings against NC. then he was pulled. question is, was he pulled b/c of a sore limb or was he pulled b/c he was on a pitch count?

it was Duke vs NC. NC won easily. there is 2 names coming from the NC team that i am seeing alot. the one i am becoming interested is J.B. Bukauskas P. he made a name for himself during the Cape last yr. another name is Skye Bolt, CF who in some mock has him going in the 20's.

http://m.mlb.com/news/article/74657366/pot...t-of-2014-draft

doing some research on Matuella, he has been having this same type of problems for the last couple of yrs, his pitching arm, while he does throw in the mid 90's but his history.

interesting story of him and his illness.

yeah i know and i have to keep reminding myself that it is too early to think of injury of any kind toward Matuella. i should wait until he plays again or until something is announce by other source.

but, i would really think extremely hard on selecting him. now if it is a Tommy John injury, that is 1 thing, but if it is related this anything else, well i just don't know.

he does have the goods to be a really good pitcher.

For me it comes down to if Herm and his staff are OK with it as well as Coop.

See Hoffman, Fedde, Aiken, etc.

There were lots of concerns guys like Gio and Stroman were too small or slight of stature to starters...or about consistency of delivery, mechanics, pitchability...high stress vs. low stress motions.

i agree, if it concerns a injury with a TJ procedure as the answer, but Matuella has a rare situation. i would let the medical people who knows about this explain further.

Why are both LSU and Ole Miss wearing white pants? Is this normal in college ball? It's driving me crazy.

well its better than wearing only a joc and nothing else.
