I happen to like all of those guys, but I would add Kyle Tucker to that list.

hmmm interesting, I must read up on him.

on a side note, this is a interest list until draft day which is next yr.

Ian Happ sounds like the best college bat available and there is some talk of moving him to the outfield, I'll be interested to see if they bite on him. I think he'll be there.

I been meaning to ask, there was a poster who like David Thompson 3b.

so I been looking at his profile and its not bad. I don't know if he is 1st round material

now, but a power hitting 3b man. what is funny, Ian Happ wanted to use the cape schedule

to show his power. well he and Thompson was tied.

interesting stats on Thompson.

I give you guys credit for putting so much efforts in this early but my views on draft are that until you get in March / April, you really don't have a good read. Guys will get hurt, guys will emerge (especially in the high school ranks, but also in college).

My feelings as well. But I still like reading this thread and seeing some names and reports.

Yeah. Especially since some of these guys will likely be names that are potentially there in the 2-6th or 7th round even. Great to see so much excitement so early.

oh yeah I totally agree with yous guys. ;)

you remember last yr draft, there were about 4 certified top 3 picks. then Jeff

Hoffman got hurt and then the domino chips starts to fall. that was exciting and

made things more of an anticipated wait and see.

that kind of excitement is what make the draft great.

btw, look at the 2nd rounder who the sox pick. he was projected to be a late

1st rounder, he fell to the 2nd rounder and for me screwed up my hope for a

catcher in the 2 round who I was following.

Who?

there was a thread on the draft and I posted it there so any can see it.

however if my memory didn't fail me,

1a. a huge surprise here Chase Valot I was expecting him 2-3 rnd

2 . Garcia

3. Zagunis and Reetz. my problem here was Zagunis, didn't the sox drafted his brother?

4. Gushue

my 2 favorites I believe were Valot and Gushue. this doesn't include other players

of interest.

Just going to post this here but here is what some people are saying is the top prospect for 2017

Jevon Ward...

http://www.perfectgame.org/Players/Playerp....aspx?ID=432890

Back to 2015: here are some guys that you should check out.

Mitchell Hansen, OF :

He's a 6'4 195lbs, OF from Plano, Texas. Lean, yet athletic build that has room for projection and additional strength. Roberts to be a top level defensive outfielder in the pros and he has a good set of wheels. Bats from the left side and he has a spread batting stance and he has a short swing with simple mechanics, fast hands and some shift in his legs that allows for line drafts. He consistently squares the ball up and projects to be a high average hitter, who also hits for power. He's is a great all around athlete and he projects as a true five tool player.

Kody Clemens, SS/2B :

The son of Roger Clemens. Kody stands at 6'1 170lbs and hails from Houston, Texas. He has a slender athletic build, plenty of room to get stronger. Good defensive player with above average arm strength and good range. Left handed hitter, quick short swing with very good bat speed, line drive contact with some right centerfield gap power, looks to pull the ball, projects as a good hitter. Polished player with athleticism and present skills. I personally think he projects better at second base than short stop.

Kyle Tucker is my favorite player in this class and at this moment he is who I hope the draft at 8, along with Ryan Mountcastle in the second round, who very much reminds me of Evan Longoria.

And yes, the kind of player I covet should be obvious by now.

Yep, Quinarvy got me on the Reetz train as well. I will certainly be following his progress w/ the Nats.

I wanted him so badly instead of Fry. Would have been a great first three picks.

I was with you on this thought. I was posting during the draft on the link on

this site. there were 1 cat and 3 pitchers I was following. at the beginning of the

draft, I was identifying catchers and pitchers.

Fry threw me for a loop, however he had some good results. as a

potential.

Considering he signed for $40,000 less than Reetz, it could have literally been the difference between signing Rodon or not.

excellant point. i didn't think about that.

That would have pushed them over their draft allotment by $40k. The Sox draft allotment was approximately $9.5 mill, and $40K is 0.42% of that total, which is less than 1%. The initial penalty is 75% of anything over their budget between 0-5%. Thus, the ultimate cost to the Sox would have been $70k and no other significant loss.

I'm not criticizing the pick, just saying they still could have signed him at relatively little cost to the Sox.

That is not correct fully. Sox draft allotment was 9,509,700. The 5% cap was at $9,985,184.99 One penny more, and they lost a draft pick. The Sox spent 9,984,600. They were $584.99 under losing a draft pick. Another $40k costs them a pick.

A better agent would have gotten Rodon that extra $584.99.

And knowing Reetz would cost more than Fry, they could have saved money on one of the other picks RD 4-10.
