As opposed to Flowers hitting .093 for his last 30 games at his age and still retaining the catcher's position. Nobody has sky-high expectations for Sanchez. Field at least better than average, a 650-675 OPS would be a minor miracle his first season or two. Anything above that is a pleasant surprise. You don't "use an option" on a guy when you bring him up. You use an option year when he is on the 40-man roster and assigned to the minors at any point during the season. This is his 6th year in the Sox organization, starting in the DSL and working his way up, making all the stops along the way. I'm sure he has had his share of adversity, but he made it to The Show.
