Mariners are having ongoing trade discussions with Rays regarding David Price and Ben Zobrist, sources say. No deal imminent.

This would be a huge deal if it happened. Would take Mariners out of Viciedo sweepstakes I assume

There's something funny about the phrase "Viciedo sweepstakes".

Not necessarily, the Mariners need a SS and an OF, so Zobrist could slide in for Miller and they may still have interest in DV to play LF.

More than likely if this were to happen, the Rays would acquire the prospects and/or players that the White Sox we're looking at for DV.

I don't think so.

David Price is worth very top prospects - your top of the rotation arms and stud bats. Ben Zobrist is worth good prospects to potential top prospects - your mid to top rotation arms and good starting players. Dayan Viciedo is worth medciore to sort of good prospects - your projectable rotation guys, platoon players, and guys with tools who haven't put it together, are incredibly young, are raw, or some comination of those last 3.

Tigers' prospects seem to never really pan out though.

As much as I love and want Avi to succeed, I still have doubts.

Eh, that Verlander guy turned out ok. Avila is good too. They have been good about unloading their prospects for the major league team, though.

I guess I should have phrased it better.

I meant more like Tigers' prospects that are traded away.

Avila hasn't been that good for a long time. He looked like a future AL All-Star for many years to come his first season or so and then his career went into a Boesch-like tailspin.

Porcello has been good, but not quite like projected on draft day...similar to Jon Garland.

Castellanos, jury still out.

We'll see about Suarez.

Rondon was a bust as closer.

Kendrys Morales back to the Mariners for Stephen Pryor.

Probably takes Viciedo out of play there.

Morales has been horrible this season. OPS is 50 points lower than Corey Hart's, and his OBP is 259

To be fair though, he has only played for a month and did not have any spring training to prepare for the season. In his last twelve games he is up to .292/.314/.417 in that stretch so it may be that he just needed time to get his timing back.

peavy goes to giants for minor league pitchers #redsox #SFgiants

I'm very curious to see what SF gave them. Peavy didn't last 1 full year in Boston. What a difference a year makes.
