It says a lot about a player when striking out almost 20% of the time over a 28 PA sample size is a noteworthy achievement

Yeah, if you weren't familiar with the situation, you'd think "s***, get rid of them, they obviously didn't help."

Marge: Have you noticed any change in Bart?

Homer: New glasses?

Marge: No...he looks like something might be disturbing him.

Homer: Probably misses his old glasses.

Marge: I guess we could get more involved in Bart's activities but then

I'd be afraid of smothering him.

Homer: Yeah, and then we'd get the chair.

Marge: That's not what I meant.

Homer: It was, Marge, admit it.

That's 7 XBH in 10 games after having just 10 in his previous 75.

Do you believe in magic ?

If this thread wasn't already started I would call it " Tyler Flowers and Sorcerers Spectacles" and/or the Great Goggles debate.

What about the start of the year when he was hitting everything?

How the f*** did he do that if he couldn't even see?

Just focus on the strikeouts. Seriously, it's the only way he's really going to seriously improve, cutting down on those.

I could really care less if he strikes out in every AB he doesn't get a hit just as long as he is indeed hitting.

This just is not how baseball works.

If tyler flowers strikes out in >1/3 of his PA's like he has been all season there is just no way he's going to hit better than the low .200's unless he hits 40 home runs.

But if you read my post, saying he'll strike out 1/3 of time means he'll be hitting .666!!

Really though I was obviously over exaggerating a bit there. His strike outs have been down, yes, but I just wanna see him continue to barrel the ball up, that's what I care about.

It's more fun to look at his 7 XBH in this era of magical glasses than it is to look at his 7 Ks

Hey would ya look at that, another fun stat to throw out there.

When he was hot, he was carrying a near-40% K rate. That requires you to be extremely successful (read: lucky) on the balls you put in play to remain serviceable, and that's assuming that the reason you're striking out is unrelated to your ability to make solid contact

Tylers magic has been there all season, he's just now using it for offense. Sox are 8 games above .500 in games Tyler is the catcher.

So we're 11 games under .500 with Nieto as catcher? That can't be right.
