The Ultimate Champion
Anyone have anything legit here? Seems like Hahn isn't getting any real offers because aside from Alexei we're having a garbage sale. This forum is dead just like Gordon Beckham's bat. DirtySox
I really hope Alexei is being discussed. Pretty much the only player with decent value they would move.

The Ultimate Champion
Who has the LEAST value of the three: Beckham, Dunn, Belisario: rank them. I go: Belisario most value, then Beckham, then Dunn. We trade all three maybe we get another Jon "The Missing" Link.

The Ultimate Champion
Cool thing to ponder: the unheralded minor league longshots like Andy Wilkins and Carlos Sanchez we'd end up playing probably are better than anything we'd get out of one of our trade pieces should we keep Alexei. Pretty much the only player with decent value they would move. He's at his peak value, I so hope we trade him. Can get a nice return for him. What worries me they will keep him due making Abreu feel more comfortable in the clubhouse .

Dick Allen
QUOTE (PolishPrince34 @ Jul 28, 2014 -> 06:02 AM) Back up the truck-whose talking about trading Sale and Abreu. The focus was on Alexi who will be turning 33 years old in September and his value will never be this high again Alexei is still a really good player. I know a lot of people would love the Sox to plug 3 or 4 rookies in the line up next year, but guess what, chances are if they did that, the team would really suck. I'm sure the Sox are trying to win. Unless blown away by an offer for Alexei, it makes little sense to peddle him just because people get excited about trades. It's about improving the team. Sanchez at SS over Alexei does not improve the team. The Charlotte Knights are stinking up AAA. They would be worse in the American League. cabiness42
There are two things that really need to be looked at when considering what it would take to part with a player in a trade: the ability to replace him and the contract. Dunn is a free agent at the end of the season, so there is no reason not to take the best deal offered for him no matter how bad the offer might be. Beckham and De Aza are free agents after next season, and both have replacements within the system, so they should be heavily shopped. They don't quite fit in the Dunn category of "take whatever you can get" because they could be traded after the season, but the standard should still be pretty low. Ramirez and Danks are good players who are under contract for two more years. The Sox don't NEED to replace them. They are both very capable of being productive members of a championship team in 2015 or 16. The bar should be very high as to what the Sox should demand to give these guys up. Jake
My gut feeling is that nothing happens for us at the deadline. Alexei is the most valuable, but he's most valuable to us too. He's remarkably consistent and healthy year-over-year and is one of the best shortstops in the game on a very reasonable contract. We could very well see that position become a black hole for years if we move him. There aren't as many adequate MLB shortstops as there are teams. Donny Lucy's Avocado Farm
Is it just me or has this been the most boring lead-up to a deadline, like... omg... EVA! Seriously though, there has been so little legitimate info, league-wide, not just the Sox. The only stories are seemingly what writers can piece together based on deductive reasoning. A typical tweet from Rosenthal leading up to this years trade deadline: Team A has a losing record. Team A has a veteran with an expiring contract. Team A also needs some depth at position X. Team B needs a XYZ and Team A has one. They should totally work out a trade!! Their GMs will be BFFs!

A typical tweet from Rosenthal leading up to this years trade deadline: Well, Rock has yet to bless us with the real scoop ***HINT, HINT***, but I'm having a hard time believing that there isn't some interest in Dunn. There is clear motivation for the Sox to move him and there is clear motivation for at least a few teams to be interested in him.
LDF
this season, no one team is running away with the fav's to win it all. all the teams seems to me, to be lump together and imo that is why there are several trades for multi pitchers and position players. so yes, I would imagine that there should be more activity, but alas no. Dunt
Getting the overwhelming feeling that nothing will happen for the Sox by thursday. Might be able to pawn off Beckham and Dunn on somebody after the deadline passes through waivers, but not very encouraged that anything of consequence will happen by 3 on thursday. I was impressed with his fielding and hitting prowess. My son asked Ozzie if he would start with sox. He said no he was going to start in double A. I thought he was ready. I am so surprised that his stellar light has dimmed to this point
The Ultimate Champion
Beckham has more value than Dunn by quite a bit. Now OTOH if the Sox eat 100% of the remaining salaries of both players aside from the prorated minimum then it's probably a toss up based on opposing team need. Neither are bringing back anything much at all even at full salary relief but maybe a desperate team gives us a longshot or a bust/reclamation type. That's if we're lucky. Adam Dunn is worse than garbage. At least some garbage is biodegradable and can turn into rich soil, Adam Dunn is basically like that hard plastic wrapping material that you have to cut with scissors where you throw it in the recycle biun but you know it's still probably heading for a landfill anyway. That's Adam Dunn, worse than garbage, no redeemable qualities, just a massive piece of plastic s*** that needs to go away ASAP. We should DFA his lurch ass and call up Andy Wilkins, who gives a f*** if Andy ends 8up just as bad. Get that miserable piece of s*** off this team already my god. And wite don't you repsond to this post qwith nonsense or nI sdweart I will vote you 1 star!!! NBut anyone who s***s on Adam Dunn I will vote your profile 5 stars TYVM.
