Is Ventura the worst manager in the history of MLB?

Excuse me, where did I say any of that?

I was just saying it shouldn't take gigabytes of data to prove something as simple as good offensive players will score runs and bad ones won't.

That's not what we're talking about though -- it was that the lineup optimization (when comparing non-ideal "traditional" choices versus optimum choices) isn't enough to outweigh that principle in any significant manner. It was a reasonable hypothesis that it could, and one that would have had huge implications. So it did need a lot of research to be put into it.

BS guys...this thread has just turned into the default thread for discussing our manager. Do you want someone to start a thread every other game about each different degree of Robin's incompetence?

I'm unwilling to excuse his many levels of incompetence simply because this team wouldn't be making a postseason appearance had he been competent.

You'd like to see a pattern of improvement with his lineup construction, bullpen management, fundamentals, ability to manage workload and injuries, substitutions, etc., over the past 3 years.

You'd like to feel comfortable that when the time is right, and the window is here, and the talent and the chemistry and all that is right, that he will be prepared to help aid us winning big games...i don't feel that way about him....like, at all.

Maybe I am wrong, and it won't matter either way, because the skills he does excel at, such as clubhouse management, ego management, etc., are good enough that he can get a good team going in the right direction and stay out of their way (as the Hawkeroo would say), but I just don't believe in him for this job.

Isn't that what game threads are for?

I think this thread has gone on long enough. The whole premise of it is absurd. Worst in MLB history? Too much nonsense and not enough good stuff. Decisions can be talked about in game threads. This thread has just become hyperbole central.

Note: I am not defending Robin with this closure, just think the discussion in here is stale and full of hyperbole that limits quality discussion.
