kitekrazy
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 2, 2014 -> 09:49 PM) Hahn said during an interview today that he still is hoping to trade for this particular target. I believe he said he hopes to introduce him to the fans this winter. Now I'm more curious who Hahn will give up.
harfman77
I am thinking it was a deal involving Danks and Murphy. The Sox were supposedly making calls to the Yankess back in ST on Murphy.
southsider2k5
Also listening to Hahn talk, I got a couple of impressions. #1, the "target" isn't anyone who has been talked about by the media. It would surprise me if it were someone with the Yankees catching group (just based on Hahns words.) #2, I didn't get the impression that the Sox are going to hand out a big contract to starting pitching this winter. When Hahn talked about the off-season, there was no mention of free agent starters. He specifically mentioned he won't do anything, just to do something, and staying out of a "short term mindset". The interview is worth a listen. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/?podcast_url=h...mp;dcid=CBS.CHI

I like how he wants this player, wants to get him in the winter meetings. Interesting talk on Alexei, saying he listens to offers to know what he's worth but only if overwhelmed by an offer. harfman77
QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 4, 2014 -> 01:04 PM) JR's interview on the score was interesting as well. Not only was he pretty curt throughout ("That's not why I came on the show, next question."), but he was talking about acquiring a SP. However, he did throw in the words back-end in front of starter. He talks about how he hates the idea of signing pitchers to long term deals (not surprising) and the likelihood of the Sox signing Shields, seemingly everyone's favorite FA pitcher, is very slim. That being said, would anyone be surprised if the Sox are involved the in Kenta Maeda sweepstakes? Maeda is more of a 3 or 4 in the MLB he is a RH version of Tsuyoshi Wada. Shohei Otani is the next big thing from Japan, he just turned 20 and almost bypassed the JPPL altogether and came overseas as an 18 year old. He is currently playing both ways as an OF and SP. http://www.baseballamerica.com/internation...el-kenta-maeda/

BaconOnAStick
More than the Sox would be willing to afford. He's a huge building block in that Atlanta outfield. BaconOnAStick
Heyward?? A bit overrated/overpaid.. I would rather continue rolling the dice with Avi. 3 outfielders are necessary to play the game of baseball. Avi and Eaton give us two. black jack
I was once close to a three way deal. September 12, 1994 was almost the greatest night of my life.
fathom
Rosenthal mentioned that BJ Upton and a Braves pitcher were almost traded, but the Braves ended up backing out. This could be the Sox deal, as Hahn said the other team backed out. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/video?vid=316857923848

LDF
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 05:10 AM) Yeah the Braves pitcher was Mike Minor or Ervin Santana too. Upton doesn't really make sense on this team though. I was wondering about that earlier when I saw this. but there was some things that was confusing me. no where in this statement does he said it was a 3 way trade, minor details yeah. here is another thought on the statement by the braves. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 1, 2014 -> 11:47 PM) Dan Hayes @DanHayesCSN · 33m Rick Hahn said #WhiteSox were working on 3-team deal to get someone they've long targeted on Thurs. No other details provided. Really interesting. Targeted someone who they have been on for a while. Maybe in the off season this will be brought back up? I wish names or teams were mentioned. what player from this list compared to the top statement was the sox wanting to get for a long time. Minor? Santana? Upton? but nevertheless, it was a interesting read. I just realize you gave both quotes.... no offense intended.
