2nd_city_saint787
QUOTE (Vance Law @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 04:33 PM) Batting average is a pretty meaningless stat without any other context. Especially in the context of an .845 OPS against righties. Ya, and he's batting behind a pretty damn good run producer so RBI opportunities are somewhat limited. He has a .897 OPS w/RISP, so he's been fairly good in that regard.
GGajewski18
QUOTE (Vance Law @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 04:30 PM) Would you recommend them trading away prospects to get bullpen help? Miller, Gregorson, Belisle, Hochever, Howell, Rodriguez are all free agents next year.
BigHurt3515
I can't believe people are trying to back up Dunn. And I can't believe people want him back next year.
GGajewski18
I would IBB Eaton to get to Beckham. BTW, Fryer has a cannon.
lasttriptotulsa
MLB average runners on base through 367 PAs: 219, Dunn 201. MLB average RBIs through 367 PAs: 37, Dunn 44. So he's driven in significantly more runs than average with significantly less opportunities for his number of PAs. So you can throw your lack of RBI theory out the window. Feeky Magee
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 03:40 PM) I can't believe people are trying to back up Dunn. And I can't believe people want him back next year. I doubt many, if any, want Dunn back next year, people are just pointing out that quoting his batting average and RBI says nothing about how productive he, or any, hitter has been. Vance Law
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 04:34 PM) He is still horrible and I can't wait until he is gone Another perspective would be that the Sox are 7th in baseball in runs scored. So nobody's offensive production, or lack thereof, is the area in most need of improvement in the offseason. It's the backend of the rotation and the bottom 3 or 4 guys in the bullpen
Chicago White Sox
It really sucks that Beckham will be leading off the 8th and chances are very good that Abreu comes up bat with no one on base. I can't comprehend how Gordon is still our starting 2B let alone batting 2nd.

Brandon Moss0 -.257/.336/.497 Josh Donaldson- .246/.331/.463 You can have a really good offense with guys like that in your lineup...

I can't comprehend how Gordon is still our starting 2B let alone batting 2nd. If they bring in Fien to start the inning, you have to let Dunn bat. It's not like you're saving Dunn to face their closer.
BigHurt3515
Also if Dunn was hitting .245 or .257 I would have no issues with him except for his K rate

Dick Allen
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 04:52 PM) Why did Thompson come out for another inning? Because you have to try to conserve your use of the bullpen from time to time. When Robin yanked guys for walking hitters and giving up runs and the game went 14 innings, it was a fireable offense on here.
