caulfield12
Defensive range is off the charts, but they still need to see him make improvements on the routine plays, turning the DP, etc. Confidence is one of his biggest assets, never gets too down on himself...can always find a positive way of making a contribution, like moving a runner into scoring position. Reason for decreased success on the basepaths...1) lingering hamstring issues this season, 2) better catchers with better arms/experience and pitchers better at holding runners, and 3) his reputation from last year causing opponents to be more careful. Says the White Sox need him to be that dynamic, game-changing presence and utilize all of his tools to be successful at the next level as a regular. No discussion about a move to the outfield. Banged his head getting off the bus this weekend, they thought he might have had a slight concussion, but test results were negative...also battling the flu and the iffy hamstring throughout the season, but it's not bad enough to keep him from playing or causing them to want to shut him down completely. Needs to work on command of strike zone/plate discipline and "aggressiveness within the strike zone" offensively. Not far away now from the big leagues. Biggest comment about Marcus was that he seemed to be putting too much pressure on himself to get back to Chicago, and that had affected him adversely after he was sent down but has been doing better recently. Great tools/athleticism....noted his "clutch" late game performances and said would obviously like to see his batting average come up. SoxAce
Micah has very good range (his arm isn't great of course) cause of his speed. There's a video on milb that showcases his speed over the middle on a little flair in the OF. Edited August 10, 2014 by SoxAce
