Seems they're really shopping Dunn hard right now. No Viciedo two days in a row. Certainly part of it's the fact that Danks HAS to play CF out there in SF, DeAza would be a disaster with that much ground to cover.

They want his bat in the line up. This isn't for "shopping". No matter what Adam Dunn does defensively this game or last, it isn't changing anyone's mind.

I don't think it's necessarily showcasing Dunn, it's just Dunn's offense + defense > Viciedo's offense + defense.

We're facing right handers in both games.

Dunn's terrible at everything out there. Viciedo's terrible about everything but throwing. Viciedo >

But Dunn's not terrible at hitting right handed pitching (see HR last night) and Viciedo is

He's not Gordon Beckham bad, and he was doing great in this statistic about 2 or 2 1/2 months ago, but right now he's only at .669 OPS-wise against righties.

Dunn sucks and runs into a home run just about as much as Viciedo does.. :D

He's also not Gordon Beckham valuable in providing defense.

And 2 and a half months ago, out of a season 4 and a half months old, sounds like a pretty small sample size/isolated run of good luck considering his career numbers.

If you think Dunn sucks, I hope you have an even more harsh verb to describe Viciedo.

Have you ever looked at their baseball statistics?

Viciedo is not good either but at least he is younger, has had a decent contract, and has room to improve unlike Dunn..

I am not really an advanced stats type of a guy so haven't looked at that

I would rather him keep playing. He has to get use to playing this many games every year

1 game off a month when it really looks like he needs it shouldn't change that and might well help him feel better for the overall grind.

With the offdays/long travel and no DH this was about the perfect time. Even Hawk noted on Sunday how Abreu looked more exhausted than he's seen him the entire season.

He had a day off Monday and gets another tomorrow.. Everyone figured he would get tired quickly as the season went on. But like I said he has to get use to the grind of being in the MLB. Playing him this much will help him out for next year when we are hopefully in a playoff race

He's missed 13 games in May, 1 in June and 1 in July. It's August 13th, so he has half a month to take a game off this month. They are doing exactly what you said they should do, but you still have a problem with it. His last day off was July 23rd.

So basically he had 1 off day other than a DL trip all season. You make a convincing case. He's clearly over-rested, that's why he looks so tired that you can see it through the booth.

Thankfully nothing bad ever happens from physical exertion while overtired.

Playing baseball especially 1B is not going to tire you out. And he's had more than one day off.

So those games don't count? You said one game a month, which is what he is getting, and the Sox have 4 off days this month as well.

But I suppose it is different from when you were complaining that Konerko would be playing too much and Abreu not playing enough when they announced Paulie was coming back.
