Question for the veteran fans here - what's the worst offensive season by a Sox player you can remember? I wanna compare some of the worst statistically to Leury Garcia 2014.

Dunn 2011. Karkovice between 1986-1987 was horrid.

Was 2011 that long ago?

Adam Dunn 2011 - .159/.292/.277 - wRC+ of 60

Leury Garcia 2014 - .177/.208/.226 - wRC+ of 11

Karkovice between 1986-1987 was horrid.

Ron Karkovice 1986 - .247/.315/.443 - wRC+ of 102

Ron Karkovice 1987 - .071/.160/.141 - wRC+ of -18 (horrendous BABIP luck of .093, career .269, also less than the 100 PA I had unofficially set in my mind as a threshold)

Leury Garcia 2014 - .177/.208/.226 - wRC+ of 11 (BABIP of .263, career .279, 133 PA)

It's a joke that Leury is still in the majors. There are so many bad players on this roster.

Who else can play infield and outfield without needing Minor league AB's for development ? Otherwise you might conclude PK being on the roster is why Leury is also. But I can't recall you ever weighing in on PK's presence.

I immediately think of Andy Gonzalez in 2007.

Leury has talent but belongs in AA based on his level of development.

It was 87-88 for Karkovice, and his BABIP might have been weak but he also fanned 40 times in 95 PA. He hit .130 those years combined.

Leury is only up playing because of his lack of hitting talent. The Sox probably don't believe he has the talent to be a good ML hitter so he's here strictly for speed and defensive versatility. Any other youngster who might have hitting ability has to have AB's in the minors. Leury doesn't. But still it's all made possible by the letters P and K.

What a horrible thing to say.

And EJax was pretty decent with the Sox so I am going with Vazquez.

Neither are bad choices. I agree with Jackson though. Javy did pitch here for 3 years. Jackson was pretty much one and done.

Where the hell did Putnam even come from? He's been great this season

Great sinker/splitter. Even when they did score a few runs off him a month or so ago, he was hurt. He should be a big part of team next year.

Yeah, horrendous obviously, but he did walk twice as much and hit for a decent amount more power than Leury. A normal or even merely sub-par BABIP and he would have out-produced Leury.

Jackson wasn't traded because of performance. He was traded because he was about to become a free agent.

I still believe he was bit of a head case om the mound though. Pretty much the black Javy Vasquez.

Boy the Sox stink. Hitters have run out of gas. Pitching is so so when you factor in the whole staff. Team is anemic. Lot of Orioles fans were happy campers this series. Were there more O's fans than Sox tonite?
