BigHurt3515
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 21, 2014 -> 05:06 PM) Looks like it might be Carlos Sanchez, as he's not playing tonight and Semien is at SS http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?g...ox&sid=milb Maybe they are going to wait until tomorrow or after the Charlotte game? ptatc
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 21, 2014 -> 05:01 PM) Thus ends the most disappointing career of a white sox player I can remember. Borchard? I believe his bonus was a lot more and he did nothing, except hit the longest HR I've seen in a game at the Cell. Beckham at least brought defense. Andy the Clown
And hopefully Phegley and Wilkins. Either could prove to be the 2015 DH with strong Septembers. Phlegly as DH?
Swingandalongonetoleft
Sad that it never worked out. As nice as a good 2014 would be, the only thing it would affect is whether or not the Sox got a living, breathing, human being that plays baseball in exchange for him at the deadline, or a high-five and some cash from someone going into September. Best of luck to Beckham.
Balta1701
QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 21, 2014 -> 06:08 PM) Borchard? I believe his bonus was a lot more and he did nothing, except hit the longest HR I've seen in a game at the Cell. Beckham at least brought defense. Beckham's defense has been poor the last couple years. Borchard never did what Beckham did right after being called up.

caulfield12
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 21, 2014 -> 04:05 PM) Maybe this guy can get another chance: http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/o/olmedra01.shtml He played in that game where Alexei was late in 2012 and Ventura benched him and of course he made a key bonehead play that helped to lose the game...that's all I remember about him. fathom
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 21, 2014 -> 11:09 PM) Viciedo is right up there for me. For the hype and the initial impression (once he finally got a hit), Beckham has been the most disappointing. Viciedo has always been someone with a lot of question marks. Andy the Clown
I can't imagine you'll see that from anyone other than maybe elrockin. Dick Allen is good for every Beckham excuse in the book.
caulfield12
I'm going with Cory Snyder or Steve Sax, lol. Jon Rauch would be up there for me, although he wasn't up for long with the Sox before he got himself traded, and he'd already had the labrum injury. Josh Fields and Brian Anderson have to be a part of this conversation, too.
maggsmaggs
QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Aug 21, 2014 -> 05:09 PM) Phlegly as DH? What's the biggest need of this team? It's the rotation. We may not have the coin to get a quality free agent DH. It might be the most efficient route to go internally. Balta1701
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 21, 2014 -> 06:11 PM) Josh Fields and Brian Anderson have to be a part of this conversation, too. Just look at what position they were drafted at for why they're not nearly this disappointing.

ptatc
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 21, 2014 -> 05:09 PM) Beckham's defense has been poor the last couple years. Borchard never did what Beckham did right after being called up. That's what I mean at least Beckham showed something for a little. Borchard never showed anything in the MLB with more money invested. Beckham's defense wasn't as good lately but earlier he played well.

Andy the Clown
Albert Belle was pretty disappointing. Viciedo was only disappointing if you didn't look at his minor league stats. He's never shown himself to be an impact player, at any level.
ptatc
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 21, 2014 -> 05:13 PM) Mike Caruso. Sammy Sosa. Mike Cameron. Kenny Williams. Caruse would be there but at least he had 1 really good season. Sosa was a good player. Cameron was just getting good before he was traded for a really good player. KW brought 2005. He had one shining moment.
Quin
Best of luck to Gordon. He was likable and man, his rookie season was something special. Stone, Jeter and it seemed like everyone thought he'd be a multi-time MVP. Good luck Gordo.
clyons
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 21, 2014 -> 05:13 PM) Mike Caruso. Sammy Sosa. Mike Cameron. Kenny Williams. Considering he was the supposed centerpiece of the entire "White Flag Trade," I'll go with him. He won 1 crosstown game at Wrigley and after that--nuthin'. GreenSox
Held on too long and ended up giving him away. Would have liked to seen a trade for someone else's failed top prospect. The utter, and inexplicable, lack of a sense of urgency to deal in July under the vain notion that this team was still in it, will retard this rebuild. Borchard never did what Beckham did right after being called up. Borchasrd lead to Thorton so in totality Borcahrd really did havea positive impact on the organization. Hawk is sad.
