SoxAce
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 30, 2014 -> 12:45 PM) How come when Hawk uses old school stats to judge a player, he is a crazy old man who the game has passed by, but when Stone constantly praises pitchers on their W-L record, there is nothing similar? Funny thing is, when Stone first started here, he never used that stat and actually "argued" with Hawk over it. Since then, it seems he's either changed his tune or he just does it to not have Hawk in his ear about it.
fathom
It would be interesting to know just how bad Flowers has to do the rest of the way to lose his starting spot for next year?
Balta1701
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 30, 2014 -> 01:52 PM) It would be interesting to know just how bad Flowers has to do the rest of the way to lose his starting spot for next year? I don't think Tyler Flowers has anything to do with whether or not Tyler Flowers is the starting catcher next year. He's clearly done enough to be offered arbitration, which will push him up to ~3 mil-ish next year and that's ok even if he's just a backup. The question will be whether something better becomes available, most likely on the trade market unless they really go for it and target someone like Russell Martin. I think unless something crazy happens, they know they need an upgrade. He is below .200 since the end of April.

elrockinMT
It's Josh Phegley time next year again. Flowers could be trade bait and we keep Nieto as back up or sign a FA. Maybe AJ comes back for a year. Sale on the other hand has had a bit of trouble the last few starts. Tired maybe
