ron883
What do you think? I think the Sox owe it to him. He has been pure class during his tenure with the Sox. Liked by everybody, and just a great guy. Reminds me of Thome. I hope Jerry gives him a job in the future, if he wants one.

BlackSox13
QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 11, 2014 -> 06:01 PM) Is there a full moon or something? Yeah, but that was two days ago. Don't take the bait, just slowly turn and walk away. I won't tell anyone you were here if you don't tell anyone that I was here.
kitekrazy
QUOTE (ron883 @ Sep 11, 2014 -> 04:57 PM) What do you think? I think the Sox owe it to him. He has been pure class during his tenure with the Sox. Liked by everybody, and just a great guy. Reminds me of Thome. I hope Jerry gives him a job in the future, if he wants one. Please explain. We have more than enough former players and so far I can't see any benefit to that idea.

LittleHurt05
The day Dunn retires, he is headed straight for Hollywood. One Oscar nomination already under his belt.
caulfield12
I think with Dallas Buyer's Club and some of his other entrepreneurial off-the-field activities, coaching in the minors (or even majors) is the VERY LAST thing Adam Dunn would do. As it stands now, he needs to get away from the game for 2-3 years, spend time with his children and business endeavors, like producing independent movies. Some distance and perspective will help...as there's probably some bitterness about the way his career went south and also his treatment by the fans. You really don't know about Dunn's role in financing, producing and acting (even) in that movie, do you? Or you're simply trying to be clever? Which? Only in sports can you say the Sox "owe" Adam Dunn something more than the zillion dollars the team has already paid him. I know you are probably kidding, but I took the bait. Dunn has made so much money he'd be crazy to want any job with the White Sox, anyway. Why should he work any more? If he gets bored he could do stuff for charity or something like that. Balta1701
To answer the question in a more serious, possibly caring way...we've also heard vague rumors about Dunn having health issues involving his family members (and those possibly playing into his 2011 season). Given that, I would also not be surprised at all if he took some time away from the game post retirement for familial reasons. Adam Dunn retiring this offseason rather than continuing to play for 2-3 more years, when he certainly appears able to do that as a part time power hitting DH, seems consistent with that idea as well. Kyyle23
Dunn is going to retire and move directly into a deer stand, not into a coaching staff
witesoxfan
I think Dunn will be done with baseball when he retires and won't come back. I'm just not sure there's much interest from his side to get into a front office position with his other interests outside the game.
