Kyyle23
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 3, 2014 -> 07:30 PM) Then do a 3 way. Happ is a mediocre pitcher on a 1 year contract who is 32. Saunders would have plugged a big hole. And that's the weakness of the Sox - holes. We have a good core. Plug the gaping holes and this team improves a lot. Don't plug them and getting another "Star" won't get us anywhere. Im sure Hahn would love to snap his fingers and make any GM do a deal with him like that. southsider2k5
QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 4, 2014 -> 06:29 AM) I don't think Lester is going to do all that much for the Cubs. All that does is replace what was lost in Samardzija, more or less. Very good point. They really need multiple starters to move ahead.
chw42
The Cubs have a couple of good arms in Arrieta and Hendricks. There's also a chance Jackson stops putting up a 6 ERA when he figures it out again. Lester would give them 4 good arms. He won't make them an instant contender, but that would be a decent rotation. The consensus on Maybin and Miller are that they are can't-miss prospects.

Kyyle23
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 5, 2014 -> 10:43 AM) That Fister deal is a train wreck lol. To be honest, the Tigers have makde some pretty dumb trades recently. They did just receive Shane Greene back in this trade though, which will effectively replace the starting spot that was vacated by Fister. So, they actually did do well fixing a problem that they unnecessarily created, imo

So, they actually did do well fixing a problem that they unnecessarily created, imo Except for the fact that Fister's a much better pitcher with a super solid track record in Detroit. Cost savings...there's that. Edited December 5, 2014 by caulfield12
Kyyle23
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 5, 2014 -> 11:21 AM) Except for the fact that Fister's a much better pitcher with a super solid track record in Detroit. Cost savings...there's that. Im talking about after the fact, after realizing that Robbie Ray was a terrible return for Fister. I understand that Fister is the better option for Detroit, and I am sure they do as well. At least they were able to move past the mistake and put someone in their rotation that can be there every 5th day. Plus, Greene had a nice season last year.
