$20 million at least.

If Lester gets that 7th year to vest, his contract is $170 million. I could see Scherzer getting $190 million, but the one problem is Boras is going to have to get some kind of bidding war going. If the Tigers are truly out, i think that may be a little difficult, lthough he usually pulls something out.

Marlins (Gordon deal) and Padres (Kemp deal) come under fire....seemed to be slightly positive about Cespedes/Simon being an improvement over Porcello/Suarez

Clearly, White Sox hopes of getting Kemp AND a cash subsidy and giving nothing of significance back to the Dodgers simply wasn't in the cards to happen.

There's at least a 50/50 chance Grandal ends up being their starter at catcher the next two seasons. On the other hand, the White Sox were in position to throw Tyler Flowers into a deal for Kemp, essentially replacing AJ Ellis.

DA, that is the one thing I keep wondering. Who the heck is in on Scherzer's services right now.

Giants?

Tigers?

Yankees (with Tanaka and Sabathia already onboard, would be a bit of a shocker)?

Orioles?

Mariners (if they could trade Iwakuma)?

Rangers?

Padres (all-in crazy spending)?

If you take them at their word, the Giants, Yankees and Tigers are out. No way Angelos signs off on a 7 or 8 year deal for a pitcher, especially at that price. I can't see Seattle adding that payroll. Theo said no more $100 million players.

Rangers may make some sense. The Dodgers are always there, maybe the Nats but they have that greivance with Boras over Bryce Harper. Maybe the Angels. And a few of those may be a reach.

If it drags out, teams fill out their rosters. Very few will have the $25-30 million available to add him. I think if he waits too lomg, Boras is mking an error, but for the most part, he has been a master at this.

On MLB Network, Heyman, (who O'Dowd said should receive a 1099 from Boras) mentioned the Cardinals.

I don't think he gets much more, if any more, than Lester. Lester did not cost a draft pick plus Lester is a lefty. To teams that don't already have Kershaw or Sale, being a lefty is in high demand.

I don't think teams are too concerned about the draft pick for Lester. We've seen that matter at times, but when the guy is a bonafide #1 or #2, it won't make much of a difference.

Sources: #Yankees close to signing free-agent 3B Chase Headley to four-year deal.

Looks like it's done according to Kaplan. 4 years 52 million. Heyman saying same number.

The #Dodgers sign Brett Anderson to a one-year, $10 million contract, reports @Buster_ESPN, with chance to make $4 million in incentives.

This kills any chance that Danks is traded to LAD.

I don't think anyone had Brett Anderson projected to earn $10-14 million in 2015, when you take his injury history and lack of innings thrown/potential durability into account.

Alex rios signs 11 mil/1yr deal with royals . Wow that is awful lol morales and rios

Essentially they're paying the same price for Rios and Morales as they would have for Aoki and Butler.

In and of itself, it's probably a slight net gain, but you're putting a ton of pressure on that pitching staff and you haven't replaced Shields in any tangible way other than minor league depth/prospects.

Royals fans undoubtedly expected more, and have good reason to be disappointed.
