Sox land two on best in season waiver claims

They were very good deals. Hector has been quite valuable this season and very well could improve next year as he spends the offseason training as a starter. I think there is still a fair amount of untapped potential in him - reminds me of Javy Vasquez in some ways, at least in terms of having pretty damn good stuff but not getting everything out of it.

I don't know what we have in Moises. I recognize some of the tools. He's pretty fast, has a great arm, some natural fielding ability, and I think there's raw power there. From what I've seen this year and his past in MiLB, I'm not sure if he's all that good at hitting or will ever be. Bench piece is probably what he is - but is he better than Jordan Danks? He and Tank will probably be up against one another for a roster spot as well. Tank has the "we see so much hitting potential in you" advantage, but Moises is more useful in every other way.

2014

Sierra .233/.268/.346/.614

Danks .220/.306/.294/.600

What really is interesting is taking Sierras line after coming to the White Sox vs Danks not including his first stint here this year where he was awful (taking out a 4/41 streak), and only looking at him after he came back the second time and looked like a different player. For Sierra is is 133 PA's for Danks it is over 72.

Sierra .280/.316/.424/.740

Danks .294/.360/.353/.713

A lot of filtering going on there.

They would make nice 4th and 5th outfielder and organizational depth.

I let my Sox bias show by voting for Noesi. I'm really unimpressed with what he and Cooper have accomplished in such a short amount of time. Especially for a guy that was thrown away like trash by two teams.

Wait, do you mean impressed?

If sierra can deliver that .740, that's organizational depth. My guess is that those 600 numbers are the reality for he and Danks.

Noesi has been about a consistent a 5th starter quality pitcher as you can find. He gives up those 3 runs in 6 or 7 innings of work. He did it again last night. I'm comfortable with him as #5 next year.

He really is a tribute to the Sox org. Not only did they see something to claim this pitcher who was getting killed in the bullpen, he didn't wade in with bulllpen innings here and there - they immediately just stuck him in the rotation and he never left.
