LDF
wow, It hard to imagine the pitching schedule for the rest of the series. a starter will need to go like 8 innings so some of the pen can rest.
cabiness42
Yeah, those were both strikes. Problem is, those are only called strikes half 10% of the time. On top of that Zimmerman really got squeezed on that 2 out walk in the top of the 9th.
Dick Allen
Is Williams an idiot or did he do what he should have done yanking Zimmerman after the walk and 100 pitches?
Kyyle23
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 5, 2014 -> 10:13 AM) Is Williams an idiot or did he do what he should have done yanking Zimmerman after the walk and 100 pitches? Honestly I thought it was a foolish move. I understand the reasoning(don't want to let the guy lose after dominating), but Zimmerman was on another level last night. After 8 2/3, you let him get it done either way
BlackSox13
Just looked at the schedule for Monday. Nats vs Giants at 4pm. Fister vs Bumgarner Nats have their work cut out for them, s***!
LittleHurt05
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 5, 2014 -> 10:13 AM) Is Williams an idiot or did he do what he should have done yanking Zimmerman after the walk and 100 pitches? Even as it happened, the consensus seemed to be that he pulled a Yost, should have left him in. That being said, Storen has been outstanding. The odds of him giving up two hits before getting an out were pretty slim
shysocks
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 5, 2014 -> 10:13 AM) Is Williams an idiot or did he do what he should have done yanking Zimmerman after the walk and 100 pitches? I thought it was a mistake at the time. He hadn't allowed a baserunner since the third inning and it's not like he was up at 120 pitches or anything. He was cruising and his leash should have been a little longer.
Chisoxfn
Dodgers / Cards game was a lot of fun on Sat. Grienke continues to be the Dodgers postseason ace. Also had 2 hits and was running all over the basepaths. Glad Kemp hit the HR to bail him out. That series is going 5.
Chisoxfn
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 05:08 AM) Even as it happened, the consensus seemed to be that he pulled a Yost, should have left him in. That being said, Storen has been outstanding. The odds of him giving up two hits before getting an out were pretty slim Except in the posteason. Small sample size but that is two huge blown saves Storen now has in a limited postseason career.

BlackSox13
Way to go Nats. I'm guessing Gio will pitch next? Anyone think that maybe Detroit misses Fister?
caulfield12
Gio vs. vogelsong next. Storen was 12/12 down the stretch in save conversions but Zimmerman clearly had the hot hand and he was so close to the strike zone with that walk to panik. BigHurt3515
Wow this home plate umpire is so inconsistent right now in just 1 inning
chw42
I'm not sure why Bumgarner went to third on the throw, he didn't have a good chance at getting the runner. Way bigger risk than reward there.
BigHurt3515
A curtain call for a 3rd inning solo home run? Sheesh
Kyyle23
Sooooo, every homerun gets a curtain call in St Louis?

That was just stupid. Also this ump has been horrid all game with his strike zone, for both teams

LittleHurt05
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Oct 7, 2014 -> 02:04 PM) Smart move IMO I disagree. Puig isn't injured, and while he is scuffling, he did have a triple yesterday and is clearly a better ballplayer than Ethier. Ethier had barely 30 at-bats in September, he was nothing more than pinch hitter.
