Brewers nearing deal for Lind

Thank you sir. I was thinking the same about Crawford until I looked him up, I was surprised as well. I think Crawford is a guy LA would like to trade so they have room for Perderson. If LA were willing to kick in roughly 15-18M for the remaining 3 years of Crawford's contract, it would knock his salary down to around 15M per year which is much more reasonable.

 

Tank would have to be traded or let go but I doubt many fans would cry about that, lol. So the Sox would have Abreu at 1B, Headley at 3B and Crawford in LF. Another guy that could factor into the rotating DH with Gillaspie and Crawford could be Michael Morse who can also play LF and wouldn't cost a pick or too much in annual salary. Crawford, Headley and Morse should cost in the area of 35M and leave the Sox room for at least one good reliever possibly another depending on the arbitration cases and how aggressive the Sox want to be. Add two relievers and I seriously think the Sox could take the division in 2015.

Gillaspie could serve as backup to 3B and 1B as well as DH too. Michael Morse would supply a rather good RH bat to fit into the mix. I don't know how plausible any of this is but its fun to think about.

Only if you think Travis Ishikawa is serviceable in left field.

He'd still easily see 450-500 PA's. That's well worth the 7.5M he'll make next year if he can continue his career .860 OPS and 128 WRC against righties.

 

I don't want to make it seem likes its a huge deal that we didn't trade for Lind, because its not, but I just can't imagine how a deal similar to the value of Marco Estrada seemed like too much to give up for Lind. Oh well, hopefully Hahn has something else up his sleeve.

And we'd have a hard time finding any other players to give the remaining DH at bats to? The rarely heard "we can't go into the season WITHOUT a full-time DH" argument?

Not sure I understand your question. It was reported that the Sox were also making offers for Lind. As far as I know they were the only team other than the Brewers mentioned as being in for him.

it was me and my lack of info on Lind. I was surprise that the sox would even

consider a player who played part time.

 

I then saw the line where I bolded and was wondering if that was the reason they
