Leury lives for another day. Waiting for the scouting report on our new lefty......

Garcia is a guy I was hoping they would acquire in a Ramirez trade as a throw in. Another Cuban defector, MLB ranked him as the #17 Dodgers prospect at the end of the season.

From MLB:

"Used mostly as a reliever in pro ball, Garcia made his big league debut in that role last September. He relies mostly on two pitches: a fastball, which usually arrives at 92-95 mph and seems quicker because he employs a deliberate delivery, and a curveball. Garcia has a hard curve that gets up to 82 mph and elicits swings and misses, and he has a slower mid-70s version that he can get over the plate for strikes.

Garcia also has a raw changeup, but the lack of an effective third offering and spotty control make him a better option in the bullpen rather than the rotation. Garcia had bone chips removed from his elbow in November and he was slower to return then expected."

Montas, Ravelo, Smith, and Saladino added.

Mitchell outrighted to Charlotte.

LHP Onelki Garcia claimed from Dodgers.

Belisario DFA

Here's some video of Garcia: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2019606...nto-2014/page/4

He's a 25 year old LHP. He's Cuban. He was a 3rd round pick in 2012. Live arm with control issues.

That puts us at 40 and means no Rule 5 pick this year.

Such a funny game when one position takes up half your roster.

Ugh. So much trash.

I wouldn't go that far because every team has these guys on their 40-man.

But true crap: Rienzo, Snodgress, probably Surkamp, Phegley, Wilkins, and Jordan Danks can probably go now, even though he tries hard and had a few big hits.

In the AL, there is room on a team for a guy like Danks who runs well and plays all three OF positions well. Better keeping him as your 4th OF than an actual prospect who needs to be playing every day. Wilkins and Carroll are guys who you can outright because they will likely just stay in the organization anyway.

I think Shuck is the new Jordan Danks.

Well, Shuck has an 82 career OPS+ compared to Danks' 74, but Danks plays all three OF positions well and in a backup OF that's probably more important than being a slightly less s***ty hitter.

I don't know how good he is in CF, but Shuck has played 248 minor league games out there.

It'll probably work itself out this offseason.

I think it's early to call Surkamp trash. He's got some pitchability and throws with his left hand. Even if he's just an up and down guy that's worth something.

He showed me enough to be given a shot as the second lefty next year. Robin also seemed to like him.
