lord chas
What a stud Abreu will be for years. Too bad media types like Kaplan and Haugh have Theo's wang in their mouths and are too busy to acknowledge there is already a superstar in Chicago
BigEdWalsh
4th is pretty impressive for a rookie and on a sh*t team.

Too bad media types like Kaplan and Haugh have Theo's wang in their mouths and are too busy to acknowledge there is already a superstar in Chicago I think Haugh is a Sox fan but Kap is awful. I don't think he has ever said anything good about the Sox

Too bad media types like Kaplan and Haugh have Theo's wang in their mouths and are too busy to acknowledge there is already a superstar in Chicago I really don't want to visualize that, but very well put and that is the truth. I don't think he has ever said anything good about the Sox Haugh is definitely a Sox fan. My dad knew him from when he was covering HS sports for the SB Tribune. QuickJones81
Am I the only one that thinks it ridiculous that he was only 4th? I am not a fan of this award going to the best performer from a contending team, with previous history taken into account. In my mind it should be given to the most valuable player. While the White Sox stunk Abreu was I believe more valuable to his team than Mike Trout. If Kluber can win the Cy Young after one charmed year on a non-playoff team, why can't Abreu win the MVP? witesoxfan
QUOTE (QuickJones81 @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 10:15 AM) Am I the only one that thinks it ridiculous that he was only 4th? I believe so, yes. He won a Silver Slugger and the Rookie of the Year award but had a worse statistic year than Martinez, who I believe had convincingly better numbers, and I'd say that both Trout and Brantley had better numbers (worse as a hitter, better overall as offensive players), and those two both play more physically demanding defensive positions and play them fairly well. Frankly, I think the writers nailed the awards this year.

Because Mike Trout is & was better at baseball??? And remember that to the writers, how "valuable" you are to a team depends on whether or not that team made the playoffs. That's why Trout only has one MVP award and not 3.
Texsox
The faulty logic in a baseball players needs to be on a playoff or contending team is one player on a baseball team cannot influence the team results as much as on a basketball team. I recognize a basketball player being able to put the team on his back and get them to the playoffs, but that isn't possible in most other sports. Impressive. I was there for his homer off Kershaw. First game back from injury too! To bad we lost Dude is a stud and even though he's 28, he's in his prime and we should get a few good years out of it. Him + Sale make me excited, and I can't wait to see what Rodon has.
