Looking at Houston's depth chart, Dayan would be an upgrade over what they have in LF...

How about a package of Dayan, Trayce, and Surkamp?

Dayan's pull swing would actually play pretty well in the Juice Box with the Crawford Boxes being a short drive away.

Plus his defense wouldn't be as exposed due to the short porch in left in Houston. How amazing would it be if Hahn pulled off Viciedo+ for Castro?

Just let Flowers do his thing. Brantly will be a serviceable backup.

I mean, I'd take a flyer on Castro if it didn't cost much, but that is unlikely. AJP though? C'mon now.

It was only 163 PA, but Flowers had a .280/.337/.553/.891 slash line in the second half last year. Even if his OPS is .100 points lower, he would still be a valuable catcher. Let's hope his magic glasses continue helping him.

If Flowers puts up a .791 ops for the year, I will not eat my hat but we will have one of the better catchers in baseball on our team in 2015. Not happening.

Trayce Thompson is about the top level prospect I would trade for Castro. I wouldn't even discuss Hawkins for him. I really don't get the infatuation with Castro. I know he's a catcher and that improves his value but, at the plate, he's been worse the Viciedo, the guy everybody is itching to see in another uniform.

This was the exact thought I had. I have no problem taking a flyer on him and giving up a prospect with some talent, but Thompson is the max I go. If it doesn't get it done, then I don't worry about anything more.

I also doubt it's going to happen, but the point of my post was (in a limited sample size) he was WAY better than I expected. Maybe there's still some hope for him?

At the very least, I believe that TFlow can improve his defensive abilities a bit going forward, and he's been working to do that, making an adjustment to help in framing pitches. You never know, but I'm going to figure that what he is at the dish currently will likely remain the standard going forward.

I think he will join the broadcast booth or at least local tv and than move onto bigger and better things.

Best Sox suggestions for AJP in a looong time.

I think Hawk and him would even work well in a transitional role and I think AJP would be great in that role. I just don't know if AJP would want to take on that sort of commitment. Now a days, if you made it like AJP did, that is a lot of travel and time to go around and call baseball games vs. an analyst gig which requires far less travel. He's made enough in his career that this would be something fun for him to do in retirement more than I need this.

I'd give up Thompson/Beck/Sanchez/one low level prospect. No more than that.

Problem with that idea is Sanchez. He might be the most useful piece from that list, but the Stros are already sitting on an all star 2b in Altuve. I'd be interested in Sanchez as a team with a hole at 2b where putting a decent player in there would be an upgrade and that isn't the Astros.
