If Kris Medlen is non-tendered, why (and I don't know the answer to this) is he not being discussed as a possible cheap alternative for another starting RHP? His numbers are pretty respectable, albeit, he's coming off a major surgery. I understand he might not start right away either, but, might be worth taking a flier on IN ADDITION to another pitcher... can never have a too big a stockpile in case somebody doesn't pan out or somebody goes down. Even if he doesn't end up starting, could be a solid reliever and then when someone under-performs or gets hurt, move to starter.
