oneofthemikes
Bucket said the other day that not only had Hahn been on the phone all week with Billy Beane, but that he had also contacted the Rockies and Reds regarding some deals. What do we think could be in play as far as those are concerned? Latos? Bruce? Gonzalez? Dickerson?
Jerksticks
I think we're going to see 2 MLB players coming to the sox from one team. OF + SP or OF + Closer.
southsider2k5
Thinking back to Hahn's quotes about a big named trade not coming together earlier, I have no doubt the names are big ones.
witesoxfan
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 2, 2014 -> 12:36 PM) Thinking back to Hahn's quotes about a big named trade not coming together earlier, I have no doubt the names are big ones. He brought in Jeffrey Scott Keppinger two years ago. You don't think he's going to bring in [gasp] William Paul Bloomquist do you?

Jake
I bet he likes Wilin Rosario. In my "what would you do in the offseason" post at the end of the regular season, I said I'd flip Dayan for Wilin Rosario. I don't know if Dayan is actually the right fit, but I don't think they're in love with Rosario over there. Rosario could DH against LHP and get most of the catching reps against RHP. I like how we matchup with the Rockies in a trade (hopefully for Dickerson), but not for Rosario. He is not a good defensive catcher. In fact, the Rockies have been trying to move him away from that position. Also, the Rockies already have like 6 major league outfielders. No room for Dayan. Dunt
I think this ends up being the big trade of the offseason regardless of which team it ends up being. Hoping it's the Rockies, but have a feeling it'll end up being the Reds.

TheFutureIsNear
Hell no to Cargo...and anybody on the Rockies really. I don't see any good fits for us unless it involves us getting Tulo...which isn't happening. Reds make a lot more sense to me though. Bruce and Leake for.....? I have no idea but those 2 certainly make a lot of sense for both sides. Leake is a FA, but could possibly be resigned for a reasonable price

Leake is a FA, but could possibly be resigned for a reasonable price Dickerson would be ideal, imo, but can't see them trading him. Cool with Cargo if his hand issues are behind him, but that's doubtful. Reds may be a better partner, as you say. I think they're facing the start of a selloff-rebuild. Would love to get+resign before FA Cueto, too. Rick will be active. Edited December 2, 2014 by Stan Bahnsen

I would much rather gamble on Cargos health then go with Bruces "meh" I wouldn't, when you figure in that Bruce could make $37.5M over the next 3 years (if his last option is picked up), while Cargo will cost you $53M over those same 3 years. Bruce has only played less than 148 games once since 2009. CarGo has never reached that mark.

The money issue is a very fair criticism, I just dont like that Jay Bruce's one year that he missed a lot of games was last season, and it was because of his knee. Cargo is a guy you would just hope you could finally catch lightning in a bottle and that Herm Schneider could keep him on the field

Rooftop Shots
No need for any responses, but when I saw The Reds in this topic, my immediate reaction was " I want Chapman". (Hey Roofy...There's more chance of Prince Fielder slimming down to Chris Sale's physique than us getting him), ..........but man.............we have not had a "LIGHTS OUT" "Game OVER" closer since Jenks and Shingo when they were in their prime. There are plenty of players who have divergent home and away splits that do not play in Coors field. It isn't entirely a product of the thin air. It also has to do with comfort level, experience, etc.
