LDF
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 5, 2014 -> 05:28 PM) NO GIVE THEM SANCHEZ OR JOHNSON, NOT MY SEMIEN (this does not read well out of context) i was thinking of something like trade them Sanchez but leave my Johnson, Semien alone. Jerksticks
If Montas+ is enough to get us another young core offensive piece then by all means. I like the idea of selling high on Montas now just because it closes the door on the trade- the Sox would have snagged 2 young offensive pieces for JFP. That's enough for me and I would prefer it to waiting on Montas another few years and all the risk that entails. Who cares if he becomes an ace elsewhere, we have aces. cabiness42
NO GIVE THEM SANCHEZ OR JOHNSON, NOT MY SEMIEN (this does not read well out of context) You can give them Johnson without giving them Semien. That's what condoms are for.

witesoxfan
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 5, 2014 -> 01:27 PM) Haha. Micah Johnson and some unknown live arms for Brandon Moss. Would you do that? I think I would. In a heartbeat. Micah Johnson and Andre Wheeler/Adam Lopez, something like that.
LDF
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 5, 2014 -> 09:15 PM) In a heartbeat. Micah Johnson and Andre Wheeler/Adam Lopez, something like that. i like it, it does break up the logjam in the MI, and help them in other areas. i might switch Micker Adolfo with Wheeler. I don't believe there is a more talented player in the entire White Sox minor league system than Micker Adolfo. I do not think you'd want to keep Andre Wheeler over him. Yes, I would have dealt Carlos Sanchez for him in a second and I don't know why the A's wouldn't take him over Wendle, despite the obvious difference in power numbers. CaliSoxFanViaSWside
QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 10:30 AM) Jesus Christ. I would have loved Moss for Carlos Sanchez or Michalczewski instead of signing LaRoche. My god. It just sucks this horrible move by the A's makes a rival so much better. Moss is a great pick up for Cleveland. Yet Beane is playing hardball with us. At least that's the feeling I get. Same power as LaRoche 5 years younger. Plays the outfield which is more important than a backup 1st baseman. Probably would've saved more than $10M over the next 2 yrs LaRoche will be signed at an advanced baseball age. Takes a lot of walks also like LaRoche does. Moss eligible for free agency in 2017 so same time LaRoche contract ends. Eminor3rd
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 5, 2014 -> 11:18 AM) But I still think he'd be a big upgrade for us, and I think when we see what the Indians give up, it'll be less than we expected. LaRoche has many more seasons and his last 3 were 853, 735 and 817. For the next 2 years I like LaRoche better.

For the next 2 years I like LaRoche better. They are similar offensive players but I will take age 31 ,32 seasons over age 36,37 seasons plus money saved over the 2 years. Having Moss would've also meant we are officially done with Viciedo .

Edit : You also used LaRoches' last 3 seasons of OPS but used Moss last 2 then one from 2009 when he was 25 and had 385 AB's had a .304 OBP and .668 OPS instead of his age 28 season when he was clearly a much improved hitter who had a .358 OBP and .954 OPS because he only had 265 AB's.
