southsider2k5
Bruce Levine @MLBBruceLevine 35m35 minutes ago White Sox have sold hundreds of new season ticket packages since the Jeff Samardziija last week . Could go into the thousands soon .
SouthSidePride05
Don't stop now boys! Stay in the headlines until we reach the thousands. We need as many season ticket holders as we can get.
Heads22
Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but Samadzija seems pretty damn pumped to be on the White Sox. He's also quite loquacious.
MDWhiteSoxFan
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 07:54 PM) Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but Samadzija seems pretty damn pumped to be on the White Sox. He's also quite loquacious. I've never seen interviews with him but the short clip of him talking about the difference between the CUbs and Sox fans made me like him. He seems giddy to be with us. I dont know

southsider2k5
Seeing Samardjiza shoot the puck, it is a good thing he stuck to baseball.
fathom
http://m.mlb.com/news/article/104180786/wh...news-conference Reading this article, I really wonder what KW's unpopular strategy would have been?
daggins
Probably a Sale or Q trade.

fathom
QUOTE (daggins @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 04:24 AM) Probably a Sale or Q trade. I was thinking it was trading Alexei for prospects to cut payroll.

He also seems genuinely happy to be here. I think he's the most I'm excited for, love how he said in the presser that he looks forward to being able to help guys out if he sees something. He seems like he's going to be a real leader in the bullpen, something the Sox did not have last year by the looks of it.
daggins
QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 10:28 PM) I was thinking it was trading Alexei for prospects to cut payroll. Maybe, although that isn't really too drastic considering it was being discussed up until the Winter Meetings.
kev211
Why would KWs method of cutting payroll involve getting rid of Q or Sale? They're both cheap.

Not cutting payroll, but filling the LF hole, and possibly others, with good talent at affordable rates.
daggins
Actually re-reading, he mentions getting "creative" which probably means trading Danks and eating a lot of his salary, or taking on another bad contract. Maybe a Carl Crawford trade?

This was KW's possible plan before the Melky signing. The article said it's a moot point now.

Marky Mark
The more I see Rick Hahn talk, the more I think he'd make a great airline pilot. He's got the right vocal tone, pauses, and "uh" to not only tell us about our recent acquisitions, but also let us know that we've been cleared for takeoff should be up in the air in in 5 minutes. Rooftop Shots
Well one thing for sure. The way that Hahn talked about JR stretching th payroll for Melky, I think we can finally put all the Scherzer discussions to rest. Just hope like heck that SOMEONE in the national league picks him up, and NOT resign with Detroit. What I cant figure out is, if payroll was already being stretched, then why was there a report of us talking with Scherzer, if there is no point or reality in signing him?
