LDF
a nice little snippet on the sox in this mlb al rundown. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/105470514/al...r-turns-to-2015 this is all Hahn doing.
LDF
having the smoke clear from the trading tables, how would you evaluate the field. in the AL the only team that seems to have done a nice job of rebuilding, acquiring missing pieces would be the Red Sox. however i know there are some very good pitchers on the FA market that can turn the tables real quick. 1. Sox 2 Bos, 3. Det tie Yanks. national league, i am not too good here. thoughts????
LDF
this team as of today, really looks impressive and yes dangerous. i really can't wait for spring training to start. i have, to the best of my recollection, never been this excited in a team going into the season has i am now with this team. maybe when richie zisk and company era. i am keeping this a positive post. so as hi8s writes. thank Mr. Hahn, thank JR, and even thanks KW. Cardinals aren't too far behind, especially if they get the "front end starter" they're rumored to be seeking. Another team to watch in the AL is the Mariners. LDF
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 02:40 PM) NL is headed up by the Nationals and Dodgers. Cardinals aren't too far behind, especially if they get the "front end starter" they're rumored to be seeking. Another team to watch in the AL is the Mariners. i had to look them up, you may have a point. they have a group of interesting pitchers, nothing flashy but solid. it could be interesting in the west. the other point, wherever the 2 last A+ pitchers land, it just might change this whole list. i think everyone knows that. rhetorically speaking, i wonder where the pitchers sign? LDF
i am wondering if, Scherzer still doesn't sign, and his agent will go the 1 yr rt, would the sox sign him for that 1 yr???

Even though he is waiting, I think there is a chance he signs a 1 year deal. He'll probably wait until February to sign unless teams start getting desperate early. He'll probably wait until February to sign unless teams start getting desperate early. No way he settles for 1 year. Somebody always gets desperate. This isn't Drew or Morales we are talking about, it's the #1 pitcher on the market. Some GM will look at their roster soon, freak out, and throw all the money Boras's way. GGajewski18
Speaking of Hahn, I created a Word Document a while ago of what he has done as the GM of the White Sox. Besides the signing of Keppinger, he has done a tremendous job via trade, other FA signings, and the draft. If any of you would like to see it, I would love to send it to you to see what Hahn has accomplished in such a short time.
GreatScott82
QUOTE (LDF @ Jan 10, 2015 -> 08:37 AM) exactly and will the sox be interested and be damn with the salary restrictions that JR is setting up. Boras will wait as long as he can to acquire that mega deal. My hope is that he gets a deal much lower than what Detroit offered last season. I do think the Yankees will eventually become the typical spending sucker that they are and sign him. Rumor has it that the Cardinals are interested in his services. However, I think the Cardinals will sign Shields.
shysocks
Just to emphasize again for anybody who somehow thinks it's possible: there is a 0% chance of Scherzer taking a one-year deal.

Unless someone is offering 35 to 40 million dollars for one year, there is no way it happens.
LDF
there are some interesting pitchers, and players that are being release or DFA that i would mind the sox to kick the tires so to speak.

Some of these teams are overloaded in the OF like Boston, Padres and maybe the Dodgers, a lot will be sorted out when the cuts start in ST. Sox may wait until then to find an OF they really want to be on the bench , just as other teams will wait for Hahn to cut Viciedo and he'll end up with a minor league contract.
