Cubs might be the second best team in the NL and most of their core group has green dicks. What happens when Soler's and Russell's offense catches up to their D? My goodness. At least with the Cubs arrival we can bump a damn hockey team from being the class of the city.

And when they add a top FA pitcher like Price this offseason...yuck. It's horrifying how everything has come together for Theo and company. It really all started by getting Arrieta and Strop for a crappy pitcher.

they have the 12 th best run differential in baseball. Have won an almost impossible 27 one run games this year. yes they have two really really good teams in their division, but there a way more bottom feeders They get to play in the NL. They are certainly good, and getting better, but I'm gonna hold off before I get too excited about them #dennisgreenvoice

 

But yes, when they sign another ace and bullpen, and Their core gets more experienced they are going to be great

i have a pretty good source saying price really likes the Cubs. He says there's almost no chance he goes to a market that isn't LA, NY or Chicago. Wants the spotlight in a big city

At this point, they don't even have to trade Baez, Castro, Almora, etc.

 

They'll have the money to go after Price.

 

The biggest questions are Schwarber's defense in LF, Castro causing a distraction and whether the bullpen has enough quality depth to continue pitching well in the post-season.

 

Other than that, with the exception of Lester, you're going to throw three starters with little playoff experience.

Just look at the Cardinals. It's like whoever puts their darn cap on is suddenly just good. The Cubs and Astros are headed that way, it seems.

Kind of like the White Sox farm system in 1999-2000, the White Sox dynasty of 2005 and the first half of 2006 and the Gordon Beckham/Dayan Viciedo/Quentin/Danks/Daniel Hudson/Floyd/Alexei juggernaut as 2009 approached.

 

Heck, all that talent coming into the system in the late 80's only turned into one actual playoff team.

Holy crap. I didn't realize the Cubs had that kind of a W/L record. They are locks for the playoffs. Hard to believe there will be postseason baseball in Chicago this year. If they can't win the division, though, they got to play in the one-game wildcard, right?? That would suck for them if they end up with the kind of record they may have.

Copied it to a T? This is the first year since 2008 that the Cubs will make the playoffs and there's a good chance they are knocked out after a single game. Talk to me when they have made the playoffs 7 out of the next 10 years and have 2 or 3 World Series under their belts. Only then can we entertain the thought of comparing the Cubs to the Cardinals in any way.

I don't think anyone doubts the cubs have improved vastly as a team. I just think there are teams in the NL that are way better than them.
