Ha, that was far too long ago to still have around. My wife wanted me to take a class with her during our senior year, so I took a course that focused on movies highlighting individuals with disabilities.

That's a new one.

I took one on kids portrayed in film which was out there. Also Hollywood being portrayed in movies. Wish I could remember more.

A whole semester on Renoir's work.

Never play full-on retard...Ben Stiller paraphrase

If im 45 and have seen the most movies or taught IB Film, does that mean I should be the final word?

Of course not. Art and film are subjective mediums.

I love Gladiator and Pacific Rim...and hokey Disney sports films like The Rookie or Glory Days.

Does that mean I have to break down Tony Scott's film Unstoppable and support the idea its 100x better than any Bay film...that Deep Impact is still better than Armageddon...or should I instead support the thesis that Scott brothers films will drive one crazy by bouncing you around with that camera like a bad acid trip meeting the worst tendencies of the Jason Bourne films?

This is like arguing that DaVincis the greatest artist of all-time because of the Mona Lisa and not his other more aesthetically pleasing work.

Generally, when someone tries to prove anyone wrong in these film threads theyre going to go down in flames.

I take people's opinions on films with a grain of salt since its very much a matter of taste. As long as I like something, I am ok with it regardless of its reviews. Otherwise I would feel sorry for myself that I thought Birdman and Gosford Park sucked donkey balls.

and a very good point. i really like gosford park alot. now birdman, i really appreciated the late 1950's early 60's flavor of directing and editing with a dark feelings. a great movie, but not a movie that i would like to see over and over. another movie like that is glengarry glen ross. great actors, acting and the cast is who's who of the movies.

Four in there i'm exciting to see (Jurassic World, Inside Out, Minions, Crouching Tiger 2), couple others I might rent (Mad Max, Sherlock). The rest, meh.

You're excited for the new Jurassic Park movie? My lord that thing looks horrible. All subjective of course, but I can't see paying for that film.

Oh i'm expecting it to be terrible. As I posted when the trailer first came out, it's the same movie as the original - create dinosaur, dinosaur gets loose, chaos ensues. But updated visuals will be cool. I like Pratt. Plus, it has dinosaurs.

Focus was better than I expected...although it's still well short of the Ocean's movies.

Will Smith and Margot Robbie had some pretty incredible chemistry, which obviously wasn't well received in real-life by Jada Pinkett.

Will put it this way...5X better than Runner, Runner with Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake, although that's a VERY low bar or standard to get over.

For most of the movie, it was quite watchable. The thing I kept thinking, though, is whenever you're on top of the world, something will strike you down, whether you're Tom Cruise, Meg Ryan, Brad Pitt/Angelina Jolie or now Smith, who around 5 years ago could do no wrong in Hollywood. In general, Americans tend not to be too forgiving about extramarital affairs (depending on how they go down) from their "role models." When it's the president, maybe the expectation is lower, haha.

Would be hard pressed to say who's the most popular actor today...I guess Bradley Cooper and Ryan Gosling are close. For me, personally, Clooney and Denzel Washington have always been my two favorites, although I can see how Clooney's "The Player" smugness and "where is he saving people in the world today?" thing could be annoying to some. From everything you read, he is a very genuine and honest person, and a bit unconventional (see his choice of wife, when for the last 15 or so years he joked he would never marry again nor have children).

If we're talking about movies we're looking forward to the rest of the year...

Obviously Avengers 2. I liked the new trailer for Tomorrowland. Reminds me of adventure movies when I was a kid like Goonies and Rocketeer.

Trainwreck could be funny and Everest and The Walk could be intense.

Avengers review. B-

Seems like this one will be a huge successful financially but a step back for the series artistically/creatively...sounds a bit like Furious 7 but with 3 times as many characters jammed into that 2 1/2 hours (to sell more action figures and Happy Meals, one would guess).

That's why the "smaller" feeling pictures like the Captain America ones, the first Iron Man, the first Thor....that are more "personal" and intimate will probably end up as our favorites. Sometimes, you can overdo it with the action/set-pieces. Maybe that moment has finally arrived.

Btw, the next Furious movie will premiere in two years and somehow M.Night Shyamalan got funding for yet another bomb, THE VISIT (maybe, just MAYBE, he could pick a better title for once???) http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_visit_2015/ 2 out of 3 positives, that's amazing for him.

Has an up-and-coming actress and a sleek look, garnering lots of positive reviews

Furious 7 will pass Harry Potter and the The Deathly Hallows Part II sometime this week for 4th all-time (domestic and international)....

Will probably end up in the $1.3-1.35 billion range. No chance to threaten Avatar or Titanic, though.

Avengers 2 has already booked over $200 million internationally and is expected to end up higher than Furious 7 by most experts.
