Boopa1219
QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 22, 2015 -> 12:24 PM) Anyone else watching Project Greenlight? The guy that won the contest is a dick but it makes great tv. One thing I'm it's him on is the look of film being better than the look of digital. I don't think that he is a dick, I just thinks that he is being really cautious with this being with first Hollywood film, look at the other winners of the show... they haven't done much. Out of all the seasons of the show he was the only person during the pitch meeting to say what he wanted to do with the film and bring up his concerns about the material, he's also the best filmmaker that they've picked out of all the winners. As someone who likes working with film and really, really, hates digital, its really cool to see him be passionate about shooting on film. One thing that is really disappointing to see is Effie Brown not doing her job, as a producer your job is to make the director's visions a reality. By her refusing to even pursue film or looking into the cost he is not doing her job. She is also not being accurate in saying that they don't have the money to shoot on film, because shooting on film if not cheaper, cost the exact same as shooting digital. I am curious to know when this was shot because I know Ben Affleck is a part of the Film Initiative that was started by Christopher Nolan and also includes Edgar Wright, Quentin Tarantino, JJ Abrams, Judd Apatow, Bennett Miller and Rian Johnson to name a few. The best reality show on TV right now (Thats not on Bravo)
Brian
The producers job is to stay on time and on budget. She's not the new directors advocate. The expensive part of shooting film is the processing and enveloping of it. Even the shorts I made in college were expensive because of it. Wish I had a projector to watch them again. They're probably awful now. I think it's weak to have the Farrelly bros as mentors. They're not exactly genius comedy filmmakers.
Whitewashed in '05
Finally saw Unbroken. Thought it was good, but a little long. I know it went in to great detail on his experience as a PoW, but I think that still could've been done without going 2 hours.
bmags
I was amazed when I read the grantland article reviewing the previous project greenlight winners that they all clocked in at like 70 minutes.
Brian
QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 23, 2015 -> 10:49 AM) I was amazed when I read the grantland article reviewing the previous project greenlight winners that they all clocked in at like 70 minutes. I couldn't get through the first two movies and never tried Feast. This season looks like it has its stuff together although I don't know if the movies will be in theatres or on HBO. I know it went in to great detail on his experience as a PoW, but I think that still could've been done without going 2 hours. my uncle was in the same camp with the person. my uncle was captured in Bataan. right on the onset of the ww2. he shared camp with the well known Pappi Boyington of the ba ba black sheep fan. my uncle was a big, 6'2 built person who the guards love to pick on him. he let them beat him, he saw what happen if he defended him self. he was rescue and weigh 97 lbs. he also got all of his teeth knock out in these cough ..... cough .... fair fight... the camp was the camp for officers ..... a little known fact, the in most of the Japanese camp guard were Koreans. he hated the Asian till the day he died. bmags
I thought pitch perfect 2 was fine. It's first 30 minutes weren't good but I thought it had a strong last hour.
Brian
"The Walk" was very good. Great visuals. I felt uneasy a lot because of my fear of heights. Comes off as more of a tribute to the towers than anything and that's fine.

LDF
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 02:51 AM) Why would you get flamed for liking an awesome movie? i don't know, maybe i was being silly at the time. i really enjoyed it and seeing the history. i never knew ice-cube was that talented of a lyricist .... i read up on where are they now on the google. that 1 guy who was always talking of getting laid, he became a pornstar and owned his own adult entertainment movie company. that is way to funny. that suge knight had about 500 mil + when dre left and thru all his legal battles and jail time he is now worth something like 300 K. If anything, liking it gives you street cred. i don't know how. but it was a great movie. they could've easily made this movie longer esp in the muz videos section and with tupac section. plus their aversion to being hooked up with any gangs images.
