OSFM?

Operation Sports does a roster every year with all the major prospects (usually 20 or so players per team), great roster. Don't start a franchise without it.

Check out operation sports and the message board they have for MLB The Show

It is actually about to come out. They said 630 est I think

I misunderstand what you meant. The regular OSFM rosters are out, yes, but the grand daddy now is the OSFM Hybrid version, where they do complete pitch edits and more in depth creation. That set is likely a month away or so. This year they decided to rush the OSFM roster out early because people were creating fake sets and trying to trick people for whatever reason. I'll wait until the Hybrid ones to start my hardcore franchise.

Now that the minors rosters are out, going to start a franchise. I think the plan is going to pitch with Sale and Shark, and sim Q, Danks and Noesi. Should make a season go by much faster

Quick Counts will help games go by faster too. I typically play only away games, that way I get to see all the new ballparks, and get to play interleague games is interesting, and then I get all the pitchers every once and a while.

Also, I made a few edits of my own to the rosters just released today. Micha is rated way too slow, bumped that up. I also didn't understand why Eaton had such a low stealing rating, I bumped that up to about 70

Yeah I saw Micah's speed, I made it 91 I think.

I usually want to try and play all the games so I will try that at first. I won't use quick counts yet but I will eventually probably. About to play the 1st game

Dyson's speed is a 99. I feel like Micah should be at least a 97. I don't see anyone but Billy Hamilton being faster, not even Dyson.

How do quick counts work exactly?

I'm fairly good at drawing walks and like to have the opposing starter get a high pitch count, so not sure I would like it, unless I'm misunderstanding what it is.

Every AB starts with at least 2 pitches thrown. I believe every count is possible except 0-0, 1-0, or 0-1. The counts are generated based on the pitcher's skills and the batters skills. Votto, for instance, would have more 3-0 counts than someone like Viciedo, who doesn't walk. This helps speed of the game, draw more user walks (while also throwing more user walks), and you get higher pitch counts. Without quick counts, I would struggle to get a pitcher to throw more than 70 pitches because I swing on first pitch all the time. Likewise, I could stretch my starter to 8 innings every start because I pound the strikezone so much that I don't ever walk anyone. This solves both problems.

The only negative is that sometimes I forget to look at the count, and also I strike out a lot more. But it's more realistic to strike out 8 times in game than to strike out only once or twice per game.

Had it happen to me two games ago where a somewhat difficult flyout turned into a bad error in RF for me, the runner got to third, and they tied it with a base hit. They do really seem to force the issue in the later innings.

I'm still not hitting for much power at all. Racked up 15 hits last game, but it's hard to put a lot of runs on the board when I need 3-4 hits in a row to score. Hit one with Abreu last game, but the totals still seem very low.

According to the developers, there is no such "catch up" code in the game. It's more than likely a pitcher/batter's "clutch" rating coming in to play. A player with a good clutch rating will do better in late or close games. Likewise, a pitcher who has a bad clutch rating is more likely to see a ratings hit.

Interesting, I may have to give it a go. My one real strength is being able to take a lot of pitches, while also fouling a bunch off if needed. That's one thing The Show does really well. I've gotten good at going into defensive mode at the plate when I'm 0-2, 1-2. Swinging late at pitches all over the zone to battle. I can usually get the opposing starters pitch count to around 70 by the 5th inning if I really commit to seeing pitches.

Try a couple games with quick counts. My experience last year was that quick count games only took about 25-30 minutes versus like 50 minutes for games without it.

When I played an exhibition, Avi's speed was a 50....I bumped that up to low 70s

I feel The Show is always all over the board when it comes to speed ratings. I think the devs just look at SB stats to make their ratings or something. Avi had only 4 SB, and is a 50. Eaton had like, what, 15 SB, and is like an 82? Both guys need to be significantly bumped.

(4000th post)

Maybe something's wrong with my copy of MLBTS

I use my own, custom, realistic (in my mind) roster. In this roster, Abreu is a 94 and Flowers is a 69. It's April 28th in my season- Flowers is hitting .367 with 8 homers and 20 RBIs. Abreu is hitting .243 with 2 homers and 7 RBIs. Something's not right!
