elrockinMT
Great team mate and could hit that ball a mile. I figured he meant it when he said he would retire but I think he could have still hit 25-35 homers , walked a lot, but only hit like .220 or so. Anyway good luck to Adam Dunn in his future endeavors

ChiSox59
By all accounts, just a top notch guy. I still remember the day we signed Biggen'. I was so pumped that I watched youtube videos of him hitting moon shots for about an hour. It sure didn't work out for the SOX, but I wish the big man nothing but the best. Texsox
If I were him, I'd keep in shape for a stretch run signing. What are his options if someone comes a calling?

Balta1701
QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 04:52 PM) If I were him, I'd keep in shape for a stretch run signing. What are his options if someone comes a calling? That's a lot of effort for a pretty low return IMO.
flavum
QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 03:52 PM) If I were him, I'd keep in shape for a stretch run signing. What are his options if someone comes a calling? I'd bet anything he doesn't watch a baseball game this year unless he has a kid old enough. He's finished. bmags
I have respect for Adam and wish him the best, but if he didn't stay in shape when he was a star player under contract, why would he after he retires?
LittleHurt05
Is this a for real retirement or a 2011 "retirement "?

Doc Edwards Shot
QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 04:52 PM) If I were him, I'd keep in shape for a stretch run signing. What are his options if someone comes a calling? He just got paid so much by the White Sox the past 4 years that there's zero pressure on him to continue his nosediving career. He can comfortably retire.

witesoxfan
QUOTE (Doc Edwards Shot @ Jan 13, 2015 -> 10:33 AM) He just got paid so much by the White Sox the past 4 years that there's zero pressure on him to continue his nosediving career. He can comfortably retire. He was still a perfectly acceptable option against right handed pitching, but I think he has other investment ventures he wants to spend more time with, plus he has a family too. He's done all he wants to and I don't think he necessarily enjoyed the past couple of years. This is better for him.
SoxAce
One of the most unique players in MLB history that's for sure. I'm sure there will be some discussion on this board whether he's a HOF or not in the future.

witesoxfan
Adam Dunn is in no way, shape, or form a Hall of Famer. He will likely be on the ballot because he hit a lot of home runs, but if he gets more than 1 or 2 votes, I'd be incredibly surprised. BlackSox13
While he didn't live up to expectations, he never made excuses and handled his shortcomings very well and I respect him for that. I wish him well in retirement.
southsider2k5
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 13, 2015 -> 10:49 AM) Adam Dunn is in no way, shape, or form a Hall of Famer. He will likely be on the ballot because he hit a lot of home runs, but if he gets more than 1 or 2 votes, I'd be incredibly surprised. Anyone want to call Dave Kingman an HOF? I'd put Dunn in the same category, albiet with more walks.
SoxAce
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 13, 2015 -> 10:47 AM) I hope not. There was talk in the past. Him retiring early might change views though, who knows. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...p;#entry2856528
