Tom Ricketts has thoughts.

During Saturday morning's Ricketts Family Forum at his team's annual fan convention, he was told by a fan that people say that kids “have more fun at U.S. Cellular Field” than at Wrigley Field. After a pause, Ricketts responded:

“Can’t be that many kids having fun at U.S. Cellular,” he said with a smile.

It was an obvious shot at the White Sox's attendance problems, as the Cubs have outdrawn their American League counterpart every year since 1992 -- and that includes 2005, the year the Sox won the World Series, as well as the next season, when a bump in attendance usually follows. In 2014, the Cubs drew 2.6 million fans to 1.6 million for the White Sox.

What a stupid comment from a guy who has seen his own teams attendance decline by over 500,000 since he has owned the team. Tom, I think the Brylcream from you stylish hairdo has damaged your brain cells.

I cannot wait for the cub to suck again this year. Happy year 107 losers.

IMO, if White Sox fans don't want to be the butt of attendance jokes, they should go the the games. I don't understand the outrage here. The draw 1,000,000 more fans a year, and some guy questions him using a team that doesn't draw anything but tumbleweeds as his example.

He should be happy with those figures. I just want to roughly quoting what Ichiro summed up Wrigley field with his first impression. ' it is like older Japanese stadiums kind of like rotting garbage"

It is a dump, but it still doesn't make what Ricketts said untrue.

The question was on kids having more fun, not more of them attending games. There's clearly a lot more for kids to do at the Cell than at Wrigley. Not sure what you're arguing here.

The prices are not a good excuse either... I took the metra rock island to most of the weekend home games last year. Saturday tickets were $10 and Sundays were $5. The metra weekend pass was $7. At the cell, they let you bring in a bottle of water and your own food from outside the park... Its cheap until you start slamming the beers.

There are more kids at Wrigley Field than USCF. Ricketts said there weren't many kids at USCF. He is correct.

We all laughed several years ago when there was a billboard around Wrigley that stated major league baseball was played 8.1 miles south.

It was an off the cuff comment at a convention for the team. if people are upset he speaks the truth, change the truth

Come on man, he took a cheap shot at the Sox because he didn't want to admit there is more for kids to do at the Cell than at Wrigley. There's really no debating this. But go ahead, defend Ricketts for no reason other than the need to argue.

Sox fans need to come out and make the joke untrue. That's all.

Still, let them revel in the attendance championship. I'm sure the trophy is shiny, and it was probably made at the same place the Washington Capitals made their Winter Classic Champs banner
