He's now a year and a half away from surgery. Coop excited for the move.

White Sox will be patient with him. Hasn't pitched since 2013.
lasttriptotulsa
I like it. Make as many of these low risk, potential high reward type signings as possible and at least one of them should pan out.
ChiSoxFanMike
I LOVE this move. My expectations aren't high for him, but I'm glad he's back with the Sox.
ChiliIrishHammock24
And both guys we got back for Crain when we traded him to the Rays went on to play Independent league baseball in 2014. lol.

Chisoxfn
If this was an elbow injury, I'd love the move even more. Last time Crain was healthy, he was elite. Not saying we should at all expect that, but he's at the point in the process where he should be able to pitch and should be pretty close to 100%, which is a major plus. I might be wrong cause I'm more basing this on the fact that the injury happened in the summer of 13, so by the time spring starts, he'll have nearly been away from the game for 2 years, which would presumably put him in a pretty decent spot. Harry Chappas
Would like a Lindstrom minor league deal as well.
jasonxctf
my daughter will be happy. she goes to pre-school, with his "nephew". Kid came in and passed out some Sox swag to the fellow 3 year old's (back then). I thought that was pretty cool.
Quin
I LOVE this deal. Great guy and if he is even half as good as pre-injury it'll shore up the pen even more.
GGajewski18
Great deal. Low risk, very high reward in my opinion. I always loved Jesse Crain.

BlackSox13
Gotta like it. A healthy Crain would be one heck of a set up guy for Robertson. Hahn and co are getting it done this winter. Lots to be excited about.
clyons
If Coop is excited, I am too. His veteran presence should be a big plus.

Hahn and co are getting it done this winter. Lots to be excited about. i am happy and hope for the best. but come on, he is at best another reclamation project. this is the sox fans hoping and getting excited and forgetting we still have holes to fix. i am not going to allow myself to be diverted with good intentions. good feeling moves. not this time around. CaliSoxFanViaSWside
Remember when the Sox traded him to TB and we were all wondering if what we got back was dependent on how much he pitched for the Rays. Hasn't pitched since . Good times.

SoxAce
Like it alot. Even more so because he's a better guy off the field.
southsider2k5
The odds of him actually being "Jesse Crain" are pretty low, but it is worth the lottery ticket.

ChiSoxFanMike
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 22, 2015 -> 08:32 PM) Another candidate for the pen. There are some bodies to choose from this year. If everything works out a perfectly, a bullpen consisting of Petricka, Putnam, Guerra, Duke, Crain, Jennings, and Robertson seems damn solid to me. You also have guys like Cleto, Montas, Jones, Carroll, Surkamp, etc who could possibly be in the fold as well. It's nice to have a plethora of options.
