BigEdWalsh
After Cubs (and Sox) games back in the day channel 9 had a post game show called The 10th Inning. I remember seeing Ernie on the show so many times with Jack Brickhouse. He was such a great interview and such a nice guy! As much as I have always hated the Cubs, and man, I HATE the Cubs, you just couldn't help but like Ernie Banks. R.I.P., Mr. Cub. LDF
QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jan 24, 2015 -> 04:28 AM) After Cubs (and Sox) games back in the day channel 9 had a post game show called The 10th Inning. I remember seeing Ernie on the show so many times with Jack Brickhouse. He was such a great interview and such a nice guy! As much as I have always hated the Cubs, and man, I HATE the Cubs, you just couldn't help but like Ernie Banks. R.I.P., Mr. Cub. yeah, i am with you on this, for me, he was a few of the Cubs that i actually knew of. the epitome of class. many young baseball players could learn a thing or 2 from how he carried himself. Texsox
Getting his autograph was one of the highlights of my childhood. Sunny day game at Wrigley, all the kids rushing down by the dugout railing. 83 Years young and never saw a Cubs World Series. I was looking at some of the pictures the media was using. Tears in my eyes. If he had stayed healthy and with the Sox I believe Harold Baines was the Sox player that had the best chance of being Mr. Sox in the same vein as Mr. Cub. It would be a magical season on the northside if they win something with #14 on their jerseys. My God how that would suck.
LittleHurt05
Apparently on October 17, Banks "signed" a will giving all his assets to his caretaker and nothing to his family. This is gonna get ugly. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/b...0217-story.html
