Princess Dye
This is like Kirk Hinrich returning to Chicago. Fans remember when they were banking a lot on a guy and it didnt result in great things. And they carry this feeling into the new situation, when the reacquired guy is low risk and ...not-meaningful...anymore. He should be treated on a second go around as simply what his new role is, no more no less. Edited January 28, 2015 by Jose Paniagua
Chisoxfn
He was pretty good with the Angels (~.750 OPS). I don't mind him in as a utility guy. Play him a bit at 3rd and 2B, use him against LHP. Put up a .780 OPS against LHP last year. Although his career split against LHP is pretty close to his splits against RHP (which is basically to say, not very good). Beckham as an every day starter, is an awful idea. Beckham in a back-up bench role, isn't a bad idea at all (especially if the price is right). flavum
If he never played for the Sox, I'd say it's a good fit. But with his past expectations/failures, I just don't like it.

witesoxfan
QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 28, 2015 -> 12:46 PM) If he never played for the Sox, I'd say it's a good fit. But with his past expectations/failures, I just don't like it. This is exactly how I view it. I was just thinking about him today too, which is funny. Really, if he were brought in as a backup, I'd have no problem with this move at all.
Princess Dye
I think Hawk just ended his plan to take games off in 2015.
flavum
If he comes back, there needs to be a "Your Love" ban at the Cell. Not allowed.
Melissa1334
Don't mind as a back up either, and will take him over leury any day

Whitey
As disappointed as I was with Beckham last year, he actually wouldn't be a bad platoon partner for Connor. His splits versus LHP look good for last year (.293 BA, .780 OPS).

Yeah, I think after the off season going rolling, it was obvious that this was what had to have happened, since we never got transaction within the 6 months time.
