Keith Law's Top 100 Prospects (Insider Content)

Sox have three guys in Keith Law's top 100 prospects, Rodon (12), Anderson (67), and Adams (94). I am surprised that Montas wasn't in there, as he has said previously he has top of the rotation potential. However, he was very complimentary on Adams, saying he "toyed with" rookie hitters and he could sit mid 90's on his fastball with two plus secondary pitches when it's all said and done.

White Sox with only 3 top 100 guys according to Keith Law.

12. Carlos Rodon

67. Tim Anderson

94. Spencer Adams

I like how we go from being ecstatic to having a single top 100 prospect to now "only" having three. Keith Law has said Montas is a top 120 guy and I bet Micah Johnson and Danish are in some top 100 prospect lists. This is the best farm the Sox have had in years.

I am OK with that. While Montas has an extremely high ceiling, he still has some big work to do to get there.

Is Adams the only 2nd rounder from 2015 to make the list?

So essentially we've added Rodon, Anderson, Adams, Montas, Davidson and A.Garcia....so six Top 120 guys in less than 2 years.

That's pretty impressive. Not to mention the fact that we didn't have to give up any of them for Samardzija.

And that's not even including Danish or Courtney Hawkins, with Beck still having a shot.

Wonder if Boston would like to have Montas back about now, haha?

Otoh, our $10 million investment in Viciedo turned into a bust, which has been replaced by the $4 million investment in Ynoa.

That Peavy trade just keeps amazing. Avisail Garcia, Frank Montas, Cleuluis Rondon and JB Wendelken in exchange for 1.5 years of Peavy when the team was rebuilding anyway. Sure looks like a steal right now.

The Tigers are the big loser in that trade, which is what sane people have said since it happened

From every angle as well. Not only did they give one of their best prospects to a division rival, but they facilitated sending Peavy to Boston to help them in the playoffs against themselves, potentially. And what'd they get? The modern day Rey Ordonez. Big losers of every phase and facet of that trade.

Montas would have just missed the top 100 by what he posted yesterday.

Adams will be a top 50 guy by this time next year.

Agreed on Adams, though I figured he and Montas would be switched.

I remember feeling short changed as Montas, Rondon and Wendelken were lottery tickets. I wanted Ranuado included over Wendelken. That would have made it one of the biggest hauls ever.

That's what happens when your player is caught doing roids.

In Law's chat today he had some Sox thoughts: He said that Micah, had he been healthy all year, probably would have cracked the top 100. He also likes Montas but mentioned enough concerns to leave him out of top 100. Also thinks that Danish is still a reliever. Organization top 10's are released tomorrow.
