And how many homers did all of those names combine for in 2014?

Dyson and Gore have almost no pop. Rios had 4 homers last season.

This whole "but Viciedo has 20 homer power" thing is a quintessential example of how NOT to use statistics. He's a substantially below average hitter no matter how he arrives at his level of "productivity." Adding homers at the expense of overall production would be ludicrously stupid. It would be like eating dandelions instead of steak because the dandelions have more vitamin C.

Just want to post this because I saw it live (on TV) and it was awesome.

Also, who is that bum that gave up the home run?

The first game I went to in 2013 was won by a Dayan Viciedo walk off homer.

So basically we should have kept Dayan and never signed Robertson.

I laughed at the dandelion-steak analogy. It's on point. :bringit

Lttle ditty bout" Jackin' Dayan , a Cuban kid playin' ball in the heartland. Dayan's gonna be a baseball star. Wait, no ,Dayan ,he ain't goin' far.

Well done.

I guessed wrong on Tank. I thought he would have SOME trade value but nope, not even jack could help Dayan.

Obviously the Sox want no part of Dayan anymore.

I credit him for hitting a few bombs. But with his excess weight, lousy lousy defense and inability to do anything but hit those 20 bombs a season, he's worthless if that's the right word.

I just loved those homers he hit. Rockets. Don't know the guy. Don't know if he's uncoachable, but I'm guessing "he is what he is" and has no intention of doing anything but swinging balls out at every pitch near the strike zone, rarely walking and giving a rat's ass about defense.

Somebody with a hitter friendly park (yes I know we have one) ought to give him a chance if they are desperate for a DH.

There's some Nelson Cruz to Viciedo's game, so maybe he puts it together some day, but it wasn't going to be with the Sox. Had this offseason not come together the way it has, he would have gotten another shot here, but he didn't and now he'll try it somewhere else.

He has the talent to put it together. I don't think he ever will. Guys with peak hit tools of a 40 or so (and it's probably a 30 right now, meaning well below average) don't usually make it except as a bench player.

I'll still gladly take Viciedo over Beckham to have more homers from 2015 until the end of their respective careers.

I will also gladly take Adam Eaton to steal more bases from this point forward than Jose Abreu.

I don't understand your point, considering Beckham is not a power hitter, nor do I see how this is relevant.

If he drops weights, improves his defense and offense, he'll find a job...

As long as he does not drop those weights on his toes. And if he does, I hope he's being a girlyman and only doing 10 pound curls.
