As the unofficial representative for Michigan fans on Soxtalk, my statement is that this year, we were predicted to finish .500. We have far surpassed those expectations already, even with the way they lost today. Should've won, didn't. It happens. I look forward to the team learning from this and moving forward. Finishing 9-3 or 10-2 would be welcomed.

What if you ran back to the five or ten and kept dodging/eluding tacklers long enough for the clock to run out?

He's a punter. What if he gets caught and tackled at the 15 with two seconds left? Field goal wins it.

As the resident NU fan, I feel like I need to make a statement as well...

Northwestern was supposed to be mediocre to poor this year. Their D returned a lot of their depth chart, but also lost a couple of major playmakers (Campbell and Ariguzo were the main ones, also some LB and DL depth). The offense was nearly a complete question mark with a RS freshman QB (albeit one of their better recruits in a while) and inexperienced and/or bad players returning on the line and in the receiving core. Most fans I talked to had them around 5 wins before the season.

Well, they already have 5 wins, and not against completely s*** competition either. Obviously the last two games have been ugly, but those are also the toughest games left on the schedule. At Wisconsin is the only game that looks scary at this point, and I'm not really sure how good they are. The others are @ NEB, vs PSU, vs PUR and ILL at Soldier Field.

Their defense is still decent as long as their opponent doesn't start on NU's side of the field constantly. They just need to stop being complete f***ups on offense and get some punts that go farther than 35 yards. I would assume Jackson will be much more involved against more manageable competition, which should keep them in games more.

Bottom line is even if they go 2-3 the rest of the way, they'll have exceeded nearly every reasonable expectation.

Tough beat. Michigan was the better team. Michigans defense is probably the best in the country.

Since the resident fans are making statements...

Hahahaha Indiana. If I don't laugh I'll cry. Make a bowl this year and it's a successful season. Still have games against Maryland and Purdue to get to 6 wins, but come on, today was brutal. Getting Howard back will help.

And while I love the up tempo pace in general, it drives me nuts on fourth downs. Always seems like they're running a play before the entire offense is really on the same page, and it winds up with the running back on his ass in the backfield.

That game was extremely dissappointing. Indiana can play whenever they want to and they stopped tonight.

Well. I was nervous drinking for awhile until Barrett came in. Love beating PSU

Is Urban finally done making Ted Ginn happy? Barrett is better, no matter what happened in the playoffs last year.

Cardale may have cost himself some money by not going pro last year, he is getting exposed.

He was literally better in practice so he won out. I have a friend who is a GA and another who is close to the program and Cardale held the spot. The issue is Urban Meyers offense is only out there with Barrett. It's proven and effective and they need to run it. The only other type of offense they can run is predicated on accurate throws especially in the middle, something Cardale hasn't done in a game. He does it routinely in practice. The other issue is the right tackle sucks in obvious pass pro. That's an issue. Also having two top WRs out for the season has hurt Cardale. All of those point to JT being the best option. And I think even the blind saw that tonight. They need to score points since the defense is so beat up with injuries.

They bailed on the run game way too early today. Jackson can't have 10 carries and Thorson 35 pass attempts in a game you trail by 6 points at halftime. I should have said it on here, but you could tell in the earlier wins that Thorson wasn't needed in them and when Northwestern was in a tough spot and needed him to win a game for them he wasn't capable of it. I'm not calling for backups, but Thorson just sucks. The playcalling is frustrating. I'd give Justin the ball 25 times every game.

Especially with Iowa on their third and fourth string running backs...you have to go toe to toe with their offensive and defensive lines to win a game like that or their superior conditioning will wear you down in the second half.

Not pretty, but it works....and Beathard is more capable of creating big plays with his feet than Rudock ever was.

Not buying Utah. If they got Michigan now they would lose

Definitely. Was also Rudock's worst game and he has been serviceable since then.

Targeting is the worst

For them to review the targeting in the Michigan game and still toss Bolden, easily the worst call I have seen in years. That whole crew yesterday was a joke. Both ways.

I agree. I can understand a bad targeting call happening live, but I can't understand how a replay guy can come to the same conclusion. That replay guy had a couple of others that made you wonder.

The problem with that is recently they run it twice and get to 3rd and 6 and they still have to throw it (or run, short pass to the RB for 3rd and 6). There has been very little room to run the last two weeks. It doesn't help that they can't run the option because Thorson always pitches too early and makes the back try to beat three guys just to get back to the line of scrimmage. They should probably work in a bunch of read options to take advantage of Thorson's mobility and make defenses think. It worked for Colter!

Dantonio didn't try and meet Harbaugh to shake hands after the game at midfield. Ran to tunnel and started yelling at students from reports.

If he didn't get so butt hurt about a 20 year olds comments 8 years ago, nobody would care. We only call them little brother because it gets under their skin so much.

He's such a miserable old f. Hope OSU destroys them for the frauds they are.

That's what's so frustrating. When the offense is clicking, they can take on any defense. But then out of nowhere they'll just be unable to run anything.

There is no denying we've improved under Wilson. There's actual B1G talent on the team. The next step is depth. And the defense really has improved, but they'll still give up the big plays that undo all their other good work.

I guess being frustrated with inconsistency is an improvement over being resigned to suckitude.
