Balta1701
QUOTE (asindc @ Feb 6, 2015 -> 06:21 PM) How many games should he have played? 8 more, because he should have rested a few and that would have led to him hopefully not winding up aggrivating the ankle and winding up on the DL. Jerksticks
Would there be interest if we made a spreadsheet with everyone's picks for like 5-10 Abreu categories, and then at the end of the year you get a rank for each category. For example, whoever is closest to guessing his HRs gets a 1 for HR category. Say the next closest is a tie they both get a 2 and the next poster would get a 4. Like golf, lowest score total gets the trophy. I think it would be fun only because his numbers could be anywhere from good to ridiculous. And we could post leaderboards every month or something. I think some good formulas in excel could probably spit out leaderboards simply by inputting Abreu's current stats.
SoxAce
QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 6, 2015 -> 02:21 PM) I'll go something like Frank's 93 season... http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/t/thomafr04.shtml I'm with you there, but I'll say his '92 season except less walks, more strikeouts, but more homers. So basically less OBP, but OPS and average stay the same. Edited February 7, 2015 by SoxAce
ChiliIrishHammock24
I'm actually going to say the 2nd half Abreu is more who he will be. .320 avg, 28 HR, 118 RBI, .403 OBP.

I also think when these threads start we need to QFT the prediction before your post. Just saying there may have been some editing going on in last year's prediction thread. Maybe we could lock the thread at some point.
CaliSoxFanViaSWside
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 6, 2015 -> 11:02 AM) This Cuban dynamo was awesome last year - .317, 36, 107, .964. Can he do better? He certainly seemed to learn as the season went on in terms of batting average, while he lost a bit of power down the stretch. So... what's he going to do this year? My guess is .305/42/118/1.002 Been there ,done that ,nailed it . However I will say I think his OBP reaches over .

Oh fine now do it when everyone expects great things. :PLast year the predictions were hopeful yet not expecting much. Now they all will be pretty much a like . If you do it it needs to be done with as many categories as possible since many of the predictions will be nearly the same and more categories will separate the pack. oldsox
Barring injury, this kid might hit better than Frank, IMO. He won't necessarily get the same career numbers, because he got a later start in the bigs. But we will be looking at several MVP type seasons. He was 16 short of that. For his career. He's still hitting adequately out there for every AAA team in the minors, so I wouldn't put his career in the past tense just yet. That magical season is still a possibility!
