Douglas Rome
it was talked about a little on the TV yesterday, but what is America's fixation with facial hair? I watched American Idol last nite and all three Ryan Secrest, Keith Urban and Harry Connick look like they hadn't seen a barber or a razor blade in months. The Sox lineup looks like the players are auditioning for Smith Bros cough drops. Can the manager impose appearance codes or is that a thing of the past? thanks, douglas

LDF
there is a fine line in which a dress code can be stated. before it was "facial hair trim and properly groomed", now it appears as this is a fade and how far can the owners make a suggestion of clean shaven but yet a mustache is ok. i just don't know if anything can be done about it, but ride the fade out. Dick Allen
For a while you would see nothing but goatees. Now it's beards, and some really big ones. I couldn't grow one if I tried. Being blonde, I can't even get a good 5 o'clock shadow. If I could get one like LaRoche, I'd be sporting it in the winter.

Not sure if that will still be the case.

I have gone a month without shaving before, and it still just looks like terrible. I assume Sam Elliott can shave his mustache and grow it back in about 3 days. Rowand44
I've never understood why Reinsdorf had the long hair/facial hair rule but it's not my team to make those rules. Forget facial hair, I just wish I could grow hair on my head.

NorthSideSox72
I've always wanted to work up to a Rollie Fingers-style curled handlebar mustache. My wife has informed me that our sleeping arrangements may have to change in that instance, so I thought better of it. Honestly, there are people who care about this? I mean, about what facial hair the ballplayers have? I mean AJP had that awful dye-job on his hair a while ago and no one cared.
