GGajewski18
QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 26, 2015 -> 09:18 AM) The stuff I have helps a lot with grooming...and it also helps moisturize your skin underneath your beard. I would highly recommend. May I ask what you use? Might have to do this because with this cold, my skin under my beard has gotten real dry. LittleHurt05
I did find some of the "beards" on Oakland last year a bit ridiculous, I think it was mostly their bullpen guys.

Lemon_44
I used to have a beard but then decided my face was much too pretty to be covered up by hair and I was doing the world a disservice by not keeping it in plain sight.
MEANS
Mona: "His wild, untamed facial hair revealed a new world of rebellion, of change. A world where doors were open for women like me, but Abe was stuck in his button down plastic fantastic Madison Avenue scene." Grampa: "Look at them sideburns! He looks like a girl. Now, Johnny Unitas, there's a haircut you could set your watch to." thanks, MEANS

BlackSox13
Are we talking about baseball players or GQ models? What next, a ban on tattoos? Chew? Alcohol? Wives? Its just facial hair.
CaliSoxFanViaSWside
QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Feb 26, 2015 -> 03:08 PM) Are we talking about baseball players or GQ models? What next, a ban on tattoos? Chew? Alcohol? Wives? Its just facial hair. Actually California wants to ban chewing tobacco in ball parks which would include players . The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids announced Tuesday that it will sponsor legislation to ban all tobacco products at baseball venues, including Major League Baseball and organized league games. MLB says it supports banning smokeless tobacco and the spirit of the proposal. Using chewing tobacco, known as dipping, is already prohibited in minor leagues. The issue was highlighted by the death last June of former San Diego Padres all-star Tony Gwynn, who believed his oral cancer was linked to longtime chewing tobacco use. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/califor...ll-parks-022415

NorthSideSox72
QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Feb 27, 2015 -> 09:00 AM) I hate shaving in the winter. Get a mirror for the shower, ideally one that hooks to the water feed to not fog up. Shave in the shower. You'll thank me later.
ChiSox_Sonix
QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Feb 27, 2015 -> 10:00 AM) I hate shaving in the winter. I don't shave in the winter. I grow out a winter beard from November until Mid March or April. I trim it up and shave my neck but i's nice to not worry about that for a few months every year. And it's so fun shaving it off in sections when it's time to go

Douglas Rome
my original thought got lost in the rhetoric, can a manager impose appearance code? The owner/boss wants some semblance of class befitting an elite member of society. It was many many years ago we were staying at the Drake hotel downtown and the Pistons were in town and staying there. Those guys looked and dressed like they took pride in their game and team and not like a bunch of slobs. If I was manager, as long as you had a uniform on, clean shaven, no jewelry, short hair GI cut preferred. When not in uniform you still had a code when in public. I know members here will say as long as they perform, they can look like clowns is okay, not the point. thanks, douglas

If they aren't "clean shaven, no jewelry, short hair GI cut preferred", then they look like clowns? It's baseball, not the military. It is entertainment. To the rest of it, Elite members of society are no longer thought of as monacle wearing pipe smoking wearing a suit for no reason whatsoever people. The fact of the matter is these players are elite members of society, and this is how they choose to appear, just like the elite members of society back in the day chose how they wanted to appear.
