I keep hearing "experts" on the radio suggest the Bears should be competitive by the end of next year due to how the NFL is designed to help bad teams become good quickly. To me (and my pessimistic ways), sure seems like it will be a 3 year rebuild given the absolutely lack of building blocks on this team outside of Kyle Long and possibly Kevin White.

Well, sucking was expected unless your a total homer. Pace really needs to hit on this next draft. 9 total picks and 7 of them, they will have in the 1-5 range of each round.

Huge young names and a massive amount of cap space in free agency could be huge for the Bears as well.

Realistically they will have two first round picks next year, when you add in White taking the field,.

Jeffrey should be a block as well.

Would be nice if Josh Norman or Sean Smith hit the market. I know the CB position has gotten "overpaid" but with the cap room the Bears have I'm fine with them going all in on one of em.

Norman, Amaukamara, and Wilkerson are my top guys I want.

Add in a high pick in round 2.

Depends on if Jay stays or not. If Jay stays, I think you improve quicker (doesn't mean you are a superbowl contender...but can contend for a playoff team sooner), but if Jay is gone, I think you need at least 2 full off-seasons, if not 3 full-offseasons. This team has so little to show form its top picks over too long of a time.

Big difference between the previous regime and the current regime. We suck terribly in both regime's (won / loss), but the current regime clearly is setting a tone that it is unacceptable and we will find new people until we right the ship.

Words cannot describe how confident I am in this GM.

His fumble was not on a free play. The play was bailed out by a defensive holding at the last minute in the end zone.

Penalty was for illegal contact downfield. If Rodgers didn't have the ball then that penalty can't be called. He also has to be in the pocket.

I'd like to hear some thoughts on Cody Kessler. Is the only reason he's not really talked about as a first round pick because he's "short"?

Not interested. I am interested in Goff and Cook.

I like Cook for the fact that he has been very good against blitzes. Of course that is based upon PFF so maybe he actually stinks against blitzes (since when Rodgers is good he's actually really bad by PFF metrics).

Michigan State senior QB Connor Cook's quarterback rating greatly improved when he was blitzed, according to Pro Football Focus.

Cook's quarterback rating improved by 35: 83 when not blitzed and 128.6 when blitzed. Also, Cook threw 16 touchdowns and only one interception when blitzed. The difference is large but not totally surprising if you have watched Cooks, as he will immediately test single coverage on the outside with lofted passes once recognizing blitzes pre-snap. His receivers were able to adjust to these passes last year, which is critical for success.

I think to succeed in the NFL, you not only need the tools, but you need the smarts, and when I watch Cook, I see a guy with a lot of poise who seems to do an excellent job reading defenses. He also runs a pro-style offense and seems very comfortable in that set. I think Connor is going to be a really good QB in this league.

Has anyone heard any rumors about Forte to the Broncos? One of my coworkers here said his buddy just texted that he has been hearing that, but I haven't seen anything anywhere.

If you ask me, the Broncos already have the talent at RB. It's their offensive line that sucks. I don't think it would really change anything for them.

Know who else is good under pressure(71% of his passes completed)? And PFF(Since you're using them) had ranked ahead of Jared Goff in their top 10 players returning to the Pac 12?....Cody Kessler.

I don't know if it is true or not, but I don't think the Broncos could acquire Forte due to cap implications from a Forte trade.

I like Kessler, but seems like he doesn't have to make a lot of tough throws. USC spreads the field so efficiently, and he has receivers with insane speed getting open.

Eh, don't care, I don't like Kessler, not in the 1st round. I'd be okay if he was on the Bears this year cause at least you have an unknown with some talent but I like Connor Cook. He's my favorite of the prospects, although a lot can change during the year.

I have little faith in USC QB's anyway. System they run is extremely QB friendly. Guy who is awesome is Rosen out of UCLA but moot point. Whose to say Cardale Jones doesn't make strides and move himself back up draft boards.

I applaud the Bears cutting bait on players that do not fit the system in a what is now a lost year. I hope more dead weight is shipped out.

I like that they are cutting bait but I dont want to give them too much credit. Its not their guys they are cutting ties with. It is cutting ties with the mistakes of the old regime which is not that hard to do. I will have more respect when they identify guys that they drafted that aren't what they thought they might be. Even in a good draft you will have two or three that don't produce. The old regime would keep giving those players years and years of chances.

None of those QB's should be taken in the first round, especially not ones who are in a pass-happy system. I haven't seen any of them approaching the level of a surefire first round pick. Cook is probably tops for me, mostly because he runs a s***ty offensive system very well.

Still...it is something the last regime struggled to do.

Would be shocked if Cook and Goff aren't top 10-15 picks. In fact, I'd be surprised if one of them isn't a #1 overall pick. This is a QB driven league and both of them have a lot of tools. Still a lot to prove but I think because they don't play for the typical powerhouses they get less credit. I also am a fan of Big 10 Qb's in pro-style offenses so I have that bias towards Cook. Goff is doing a lot with a pretty crappy team around him.

Again, I really like Cook. He is used to the cold, he is used to a physical conference / play, he plays in a pro offense, has a quick release, and is supposed to be very smart. He also is a winner who has a ton of big game experience (so we've gotten to see the type of "poise" he has and how he handles pressure). All important attributes in a QB, imo. Of all positions in sports, it is QB where smarts become so damn important, in fact, they can overcome physical limitations. Rodgers is insane, but some of the other best are not amazing athletes (neither Manning / Brady / Brees would ever be on the list of biggest arms, fastest QB's, etc).

That is why this FO and coaching staff is sitting soooooooooo pretty. The past regime was soooooooooo historically awful and incompetent that it makes Pace and Fox look like f***ing studs when they wake up every morning and take a s***.

Unfortunately, most fans are only so patient and they'll start getting heat faster then any of us would expect (despite how awful the roster is).
