LittleHurt05
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 4, 2016 -> 08:51 AM) Washington is going to beat Green Bay by double digits. Packers are really awful right now. I think Carolina is going to win it all. WTF happened? They were cruising the first 6 games then it's like the Broncos beat them up and they never recovered. GoSox05
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 4, 2016 -> 09:11 AM) WTF happened? They were cruising the first 6 games then it's like the Broncos beat them up and they never recovered. It's really a mixture of everything. Bad play calling from the coach, Rodgers isn't playing well or up to his level at least, bad wide outs, no pass catching TE, and all 5 offensive lineman are hurt to some degree. It's probably just a one year problem for them, but it's not getting fixed until the off season.
Harry Chappas
I gotta put this somewhere. So I made the mistake of flipping on Mully and Hanley this morning and part of the talk was that the record was 6-10 and they were in last place and thus the season was not a success and the team needs to figure out how to beat Detroit, Minnesota and the Packers. If you watched this season and came away with anything other than promise I am not certain you should be expressing views on the season. The Bears have found a way to compete with Rodgers and played just fine with Detroit and Minnesota.

Anyone who saw this team and saw the injuries they went through, along with the players that got dealt, and saw anything more than a 6 win team is full of s*** or a meatball fan. Hell going into this season I thought this was a 3 or 4 win team. Most importantly they got Jay Cutler to look like an NFL quarterback. Once you start adding pieces to this team (remember 9 draft picks, plus White are coming in) and the cap space they have, and the future is bright. GoSox05
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 4, 2016 -> 09:25 AM) Personnel issues. Bad OL. Lack of skill players. Thompson's drafts haven't been as good and they never supplement the roster with free agents even though they have $$. I like the draft and develop mentality of Ted Thompson. I think teams that try and win by signing free agents are usually the bad teams, but signing 2 or 3 low priced players isn't the end of the world. TT has had good success with that, but he seems to shy away from it for some reason. This is one thing that needs to change this off season, although I doubt it will. Ladarius Green is perfect type of player they should go after. Young and probably won't cost that much. Fills a big hole for them.
Balta1701
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 4, 2016 -> 10:25 AM) Personnel issues. Bad OL. Lack of skill players. Thompson's drafts haven't been as good and they never supplement the roster with free agents even though they have $$. Aren't they now suddenly paying Rodgers fairly? That's gotta hurt. They added Peppers last year as their big FA, they extended Jordy Nelson for fair money in 2014, Clay Matthews isn't cheap, that's a tough criticism to give them IMO. As one of their fans I wouldn't be able to complain about them keeping those guys - 90% of the teams in the league would love to have the problem that is 'Rodgers's cap hit", the issue is the draft, if they aren't getting hits to plug in alongside those guys that's where they lose their depth. LittleHurt05
I saw this on Twitter today, but Tampa Bay (1999) has won a NFC North/Central division title more recently than Detroit has. (1993)
GoSox05
Packers have plenty of money to spend. The Rodgers and Matthews deals are actually pretty team friendly right now. Also the salary cap is going up next year.

They'll never "go nuts' in free agency and they have no reason to. There's also no reason to carry over a ton of cap space when you are a potential Super Bowl winner that has a few holes that could be easily filled in the short-term. GoSox05
Last night is another example. The left tackle is out for the game, so you have to have the left guard play left tackle even though he has never played the position before. It was a fine effort, but he was getting beat bad. A back up left tackle free agent should been signed last off season. Seems like it should be important to have a good back up tackle to play once in a while. Kind of important to protect Rodgers. southsider2k5
Someone from the Cowboys decided it wasn't worth a promotion to try to interview for the Detroit job. Y2Jimmy0
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jan 4, 2016 -> 08:35 AM) I''m not 100% on this, but I think the Bears pick 11th in odd rounds and 8th in even rounds. So they pick 11th in 1st. 10th in 2nd. 9th in 3rd. 11th in 4th. 10th in 5th. 9th in 6th. 11th in 7th round. I just looked it up. They'll have picks #11, #41 (New England forfeits 1st rounder). cabiness42
I'd like to see the NFL get rid of conferences. Just have 8 four-team divisions. Division winners get seeded 1-8 and four best wild card teams seeded 9-12. Wild Card round has 5 vs 12, 6 vs 11, 7 vs 10, and 8 vs 9. Re-seed for divisional round so that top seed plays lowest remaining seed, etc. Re-seed again for championship round so that top remaining seed plays lowest remaining seed. If that were in place this year (tiebreakers would be different without conferences but I am applying current tiebreaker system to seed teams): 1 Carolina 2 Arizona 3 Denver 4 New England 5 Cincinnati vs 12 NY Jets 6 Minnesota vs 11 Seattle 7 Houston vs 10 Green Bay 8 Washington vs 9 Kansas City
bmags
Coughlin out. As I have said, I would not want to be hiring an NFL coach this year. There were not even that many breakout teams with great candidates. Gase is obviously gone. Harold Goodwin gone? Does Darrell Bevill get the call? bmags
I have to say, just as the QB situation in the NFL looked worse than it has in 15 years, suddenly Kirk Cousins/Bortles/Wilson/Stafford catch fire toward the end. Cousins was most unbelievable to me. This dude just...stopped throwing interceptions.
