I wonder would people rather hear Kenny's 50 cents on the dollar speach again, or this one?

Moura and other Halos writers have recently focused on the Angels' dramatic drop in attendance this season--they're on track to attract less than 3 million fans this year, which would be the first time since 2003 that that's happened, and the largest season-over-season drop in at least 15 years. But rather than bemoan that point, Angels vice president of marketing and ticket sales Robert Alvarado told Moura that ticket revenue for 2015 so far is higher than 2014 because they're making more money off higher-priced tickets and the people who buy them. So it's not a matter of bringing out as many fans to the ballpark as possible; it's a matter of squeezing out as much money as possible from those who can attend.

Alvarado goes on to prove his class elitism with this telling quote:

"We may not be reaching as many of the people on the lower end of the socioeconomic ladder, but those people, they may enjoy the game, but they pay less, and we're not seeing the conversion on the per-caps [Gustavo note: spend more money like other, wealthier fans, in Halospeak]," Alvarado said. "In doing so, the ticket price that we're offering those people, it's not like I can segregate them, because I'm offering it up to the public, and I'm basically downselling everybody else in order to accommodate them."

To review: Alvarado doesn't really want poor people at the Angels Stadium because they don't spend that much money. By trying to attract them, he worsens the experience for wealthier fans. And if he could, he'd segregate the poors from everyone else.

He will get a job with the Atlanta Hawks' marketing team for sure.

Can easily transition from hating Hispanics to hating African-Americans.

Similar situation to the White Sox...they entered last season having missed the playoffs four consecutive seasons. Even a disappointing playoff appearance didn't help this offseason.

Yet the trend does not surprise Alvarado. He said the strength of the resale market — StubHub, Ticketmaster's Ticket Exchange, and similar services — means that fans do not have to buy or share season tickets to get a good seat. And, since the recession hit in 2008, fans have become increasingly interested in mini-plans rather than in buying a seat for all 81 games.

He said the Angels are about even with last year in revenue from tickets and concessions. Group sales are up, and so are luxury suite rentals. Donated tickets — charities and civic groups buy blocks and give them to schools, military personnel and the like — are down.

The Dodgers have capped season-ticket sales at 35,000. Alvarado said the Dodgers build that base in part by selling blocks of seats to brokers and resale outlets. "They've got a significantly larger wholesale business than we do," Alvarado said. "We choose not to go that model."

Remember, this same team is bleeding fans like the White Sox post 2006... Had the best record in AL, MVP, playoff appearance last year, etc. They're not losing fans to the DOdgers, either.

Just saw a report on Twitter that she has "life-threatening " injuries.

Jesus Christ.

Tweets about her "bleeding profusely", fans cleaning blood off the seats after she was removed on stretcher.

Like the worst possible thin you can imagine in baseball ever.

Bat shards from Brett Lawrie.

Yeah this is crazy. Hope she is ok.

I watched the video of them taking her off the field, it looked like they were tending to the head area and not neck. If it were life threatening, had to be near the temple?

So sad about the woman hit by the broken bat in Boston. Shows what can happen, anything can happen, when you have good seats at a baseball game. Her little kid was there in horror.

Please let her live. Please let her be OK. Heartbreaking.

Not sure if it was unavoidable, but people need to pay attention to everything when you sit that close.

Just a matter of time when there's netting around from dugout to dugout.

In hockey, they put up netting after a teenage girl died days after getting hit in the head with a puck, think it happened in Columbus.

Now this is the kind of guy I could see the Sox trying to rebuild.

#Astros DFA Chatsworth HS alum Matt Dominguez. He turned down long-term deal when HOU tried to lock him up "cheap." Ends up losing millions.
