They came sooooo close From 2009 to 2011, Ynoa was limited to three games started by a strained right elbow that led to reconstructive elbow surgery. He returned to the field in 2012 and started in 12 of 14 appearances and made 21 starts the following year (75 2/3 innings) before he suffered a shoulder strain in August 2013. Ynoa appeared in 31 games last season as well, throwing 45 2/3 innings at Single-A Stockton. But Ynoa has looked healthy this spring. You would think he has at least a minor shot of being on the opening day roster, but I actually read from some insider non fluff piece, the Sox are "hoping" to get him in a spring training game as some point, so really, if Will Ferrell can play spring training games, Jesse Crain isn't close. Ynoa may be a decent pick up. But until he starts showing how great he looks in games that count, I take all the good reports with a grain of salt. His ERA was over 5.00 in high A last year. His ERA was over 5.00 in high A last year. comparing last yr to this yr and the strong offseason the sox had, i welcome any and all players, as long it make sense, to compete. competition-competition. take the best north. i am with you, i would love to see crain pitch in a game, to gage how far he is from being a viable asset, an extra arm for the pen. There is no reason to be negative in spring training. It's supposed to be a fun time, and personally I love hearing about the improvements that players are making.
