flavum
Hopefully by the time the Sox get to Detroit, the roster is at 100% strength, and they aren't 2-6.
Bob Sacamano
QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Mar 29, 2015 -> 01:09 PM) Jacob Petricka still feels sore. Knows it's clean. Irritated because he just has to let arm rest. #WhiteSox https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/582250436998004736 Petricka still dealing with moderate soreness. Not looking likely for Opening Day, which is 8 days away. https://twitter.com/ESPNChiSox/status/582250562755956736 Robin Ventura says Micah Johnson has "done well enough to be the leading guy" for second-base job. But he's not naming him starter yet. https://twitter.com/ChiTribKane/status/582250943837646848 So basically he's the starter

Whisox05
Wh Sox closer David Robertson told reporters no forearm issues after his outing today . https://twitter.com/MLBBruceLevine/status/582297697794682881 Robertson felt good with effort. He isn't scheduled for back-to-backs but could throw in a game and bullpen or one hitter next day https://twitter.com/scottmerkin/status/582297848626036736 After 3 IP Sunday, Carroll will pitch in relief in 2 days. CaliSoxFanViaSWside
QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 29, 2015 -> 07:58 AM) Rodon isn't making the team, but it would be nice if he was there to go 2-4 innings every three to five days, and at the end of the year, he's pitched in 45-50 games with about 140 important innings. But that's not baseball right now, so it won't happen. Rodon still could start the season with the Sox and get sent down once Petricka is feeling better. How would that effect his service time ? How would that effect his service time ? It wouldn't but why bother. Rodon should not pitch out of the bullpen. Go to Charlotte and get starts in immediately. southsider2k5
QUOTE (raBBit @ Mar 29, 2015 -> 12:47 AM) What does this even mean? Surkamp isn't making the team because he's not one of the best seven relievers. The team already put him on the verbal trade block, which it NEVER does. Surkamp will not be on the 25 man roster without major problems in the bullpen.

maggsmaggs
I'd rather see Carlos Sanchez on the roster than Gordon Beckham. I seriously just don't understand why he is here? He cannot hit. His defense is greatly overrated at second base. He hasn't played 3B or SS consistently since college/rookie year. In fact, he looked bad at those positions last year with the Angels. Let Sanchez make the roster as a second utility infielder over the guy who has proven year after year, he is not a good baseball player. Sanchez is young enough with enough upside that he needs to be playing everyday in order to develop. If he doesn't earn the starting 2B job with the Sox then he needs to be starting at SS/2B at Charlotte. Beckham is as good or better than what most teams have as their utility infielder. We just have a hard time seeing it that way because he underperformed so much as a starter.
shysocks
Relevant to the discussion of how many lefties to have in the pen: Dan Jennings has relatively pronounced reverse splits in his career. .757 OPS allowed against lefties, .711 against rightes. I mentioned this the day we traded for him and still really hope somebody has informed Robin Ventura of this.

We just have a hard time seeing it that way because he underperformed so much as a starter. See, that is where I disagree about Sanchez and his future. I think he will max out as a solid utility player, nothing more. But if you believe he can be more than that, then you are definitely right he should be playing every day in the minors. I just don't see much from Sanchez. He is not a great SS, passable, but not great. Has no power whatsoever. He's not particularly fast. He has a decent eye at the plate and his best position is 2B. southsider2k5
I know it won't be popular to say, but I see Sanchez ending up as basically Gordon Beckham, with a bit less power.
