LDF
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 22, 2015 -> 03:21 PM) http://fullcount.weei.com/sports/boston/ba...ut-the-red-sox/ Including Cole Hamels... nice find. the problem is, imo, there is always going to be pieces for a trade, the problem for me will be the price to pay for such a trade. this system, the system that we have now enjoying the fruits, is still fragile. the system does not have the extra pieces to use in a trade. sad but it is true, so b/c of lack of insight, the sox will have to scour the waiver list. Dick Allen
Studies have shown that the big trade deadline acquistion rarely pays off. I just hope there isn't White Sox pitching available.
caulfield12
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 22, 2015 -> 08:34 AM) Studies have shown that the big trade deadline acquistion rarely pays off. I just hope there isn't White Sox pitching available. You mean other than Danks? There's no way the Sox are going after Hamels and emptying the farm....that would be insane (Crosses fingers). Now, those incremental improvement guys like an Edwin Jackson, they COULD be of interest short-term. But there's just no way the budget has any room to push up another $5-10 million at this point in the proceedings. There's also a possibility Noesi becomes expendable with Rodon moving into the rotation...assuming he has "decent" value to another organization in need of some stability at the back end. By that point, Montas, Danish or even Erik Johnson might be in the picture as legit candidates (ala Brandon McCarthy late 2005).

If Andre Rienzo has value to teams, Hector Noesi definitely has value to teams.

GreenSox
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 22, 2015 -> 09:21 AM) http://fullcount.weei.com/sports/boston/ba...ut-the-red-sox/ Including Cole Hamels... It would be a ridiculous price. And he's poor against the AL. My goodness, is Sale, Shark, Q, Rodon and whomever not sufficient? Jackson has no better chance of being a decent 5 than Penny, Danks or Noesi. Edited March 23, 2015 by GreenSox

My goodness, is Sale, Shark, Q, Rodon and whomever not sufficient? Jackson has no better chance of being a decent 5 than Penny, Danks or Noesi. first Rodon is not a sure thing to start this season anywhere but in the minors, and except for Noesi last pitching performance, i am not too confident in the backend of the sp's rotation. so yes, the sox need a sp, one that can a trusted in. obvious the sox FO thinks the same, then why offer Penny a contract?
